Way too many leftists genuinely believe that companies have a profit-motive only out of sheer greed and everyone could pay all of their employees 100k a year if only they wanted to

Are they? Who? I hear this yet I don't actually see any real examples of it.

I saw one company fired people so they could take that money and invest into AI...but that's as close as I've seen to AI replacing people.
The alarming trend I'm seeing in 2025 is that companies are quietly laying off employees and replacing their positions with AI.

This means that even if the economy improves, those jobs are not coming back.

So where will these people work? What will this do to our economy?

Call it the trump attention economy. He has to stay in trump's field of attention or else he's losing.
I'm wondering if Kegseth is hell-bent on going after Mark Kelly because he outranked him. Small men do that kind of thing.

Look, it was only a matter of time before GOP would hop on the bandwagon of "affordability" and start talking about how regulation and gov add cost (which they do at points).

Dems should be figuring out how to combat that messaging.
Senate Republicans in January plan to criticize requirements for safety technology, such as automatic emergency braking and alarms to remind drivers that a child is in the back seat, arguing they unnecessarily drive up the cost of cars. (NYT)

What i wouldn't give for the House to flip in Feb. 😆
The rumor is more GOP members of Congress are getting ready to retire as a fuck you to the White House.

Why not do it today?

Or he could...IDK...make common cause with the House Dems and help hold Trump to account????

Resigning is the cowards way out.

. @rbreich.bsky.social explains how we can neuter Citizens United through the states, without changing the Constitution or requiring all 50 states to sign on. It sounds like a great idea to me.

Several of you have told me that the first step out of the mess we’re in is to get rid of the Supreme Court’s bonkers Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision of 2010, which held that c...

I am all for country of origin being a public requirement but even if you were to take freedom/privacy folks concerns about it, I STILL think we should be able to say in our own settings "block accounts not from my country of origin" or something similar.
So, why did Xitter turn on country of origin and why isn't that a legal requirement for all social media already?

There is a ton of truth in this.
Another way to look at the Zohran-Trump thing is that Trump still fundamentally thinks of his cartoonish fascism as kayfabe with no real-world consequences, and when he's separated from genuine, consequential Nazis like Miller and Vance he's just an old man putting on a show again

I think we found the Trump's heir to MAGA.
Every clip I've watched has been more insane than the last - this one's particularly remarkable because when asked "why do you think there's been more excitement around this meeting" Trump responds with a long monologue about how great and remarkable ZOHRAN is - not one single word about himself.
I think this clip is the key to understanding why Trump acted the way he did with Mamdani. His world revolves around TV ratings.

"I tell you, the press has eaten this thing up."

Actually that surgeon 20 years from now was actually responding to some idiot human kid's prompt to get answers for his homework.

The AI will be your surgeon...not the human.

🤷‍♂️
It’s fun to think about the surgeon who will botch your surgery 20 years from now and what he’s doing at this moment. He just ran all his homework through ChatGPT. He just read that article about vaccines and autism at the CDC website. He just watched an Instagram video about the moon landing hoax.
