We have reached that point in the holiday season at which there are Way Too Many Treats in the house.

What if I WANT to do things slower. Take years to finish a garment, put out a new act, complete a series of photos. What then.

How do we make an easy pace, delayed gratification, and enjoyment of the process desirable on a grand scale. How do we restore to these their long-forgotten cachet.

I feel like the real problem people have with winter is the expectation that we operate at the same levels of productivity and energy as we do at other times of year. Winter is for sleeping and eating and relaxing and doing nothing. I wish I had the financial stability to take the entire season off.
I absolutely love this time of year, because I'm a perverse cave-dwelling creature who tries to experience as little sunlight as possible every day. BUT I'm convinced that - whatever our preferences - we as a species were made to do nothing but sleep and eat our way through the entire winter season.

Just got paid $50 cash for a thing and Arthur is trying to eat the dollar bills.

"Arthur, you can't eat my money, I need it to buy food for you..
..okay, well, I guess you ARE eating my money, then."

I've become really suspicious of the word "seamless" when I see or hear it used in advertising. It's often a descriptor for AI integration and, bruh, there's no way that integration ain't absolutely *riddled* with seams.

No bullshit is safe from the critical scrutiny and thorough research of @jewitches.bsky.social and I just love to see a takedown like this one:
Christmas Trees aren’t pagan…So why are people so obsessed with this myth?

Let’s trace it back to the German nationalists of the 1800s, the Nazis who promoted it, & let’s debunk the supposed origins — Saturnalia, Yule, Sol Invictus, Yule Log….all with citations.

Harlow's still here
Fifty years ago, Harlow was the queen of Philadelphia nightlife, Jack Kelly’s girlfriend, and the city's most famous transgender woman. Today, she’s ready to tell her story.

Are my hands red and itchy because I ate an orange or because I've been arranging coarse/spiky/toxic seasonal plant matter or because both.

killing “get that bag” requires killing a social media culture that venerates aspirational and individual consumption while rebuilding a civil society that provides base levels of economic and social bonds with a soft pressure of shame and shared morals

which would be nice, but (gestures broadly)
We need to permanently retire "get that bag" and bring back the shame of selling out!! Sorry!!

Little Sister discovered this when it first came out and I (a fool) slept on it for the better part of a year, but Teeth of Time by Joshua Burnside might be my top album of 2025? Listening on repeat is like holding my hand over a flame but not wanting to pull it away. Shit's absolutely devastating.

Editing my November photos and y'know what? I don't wanna do any beauty edits. I want to leave the textures and wrinkles and shine and barely-covered chin acne and blemishes in. I don't want to add/subtract/change any contouring.

It's dirty and gritty and imperfect and I don't want to clean it up.

Leaving out the back door because my neighbour's out front with his leafblower less than an hour after the landscapers came through with THEIR leafblowers and I'd rather not be tempted to commit a murder today.

highly recommend going to a local stream, river, or pond, and filling a mason jar with a few rotting leaves + water and seeing what happens over the next two months
