In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mario and Luigi's level-up stat gains are bizarrely based on what level Bowser is currently at. If he is at a "good" level, they will be several times more powerful. The game does not tell you which levels are good and which are bad.

We discussed whether or not we would cover the ModRetro 64 on NWR after we were offered early access to it. We decided not to due to moral issues. A hard decision since covering it would likely earn us plenty of views/money.

All that to say I'm somewhat relieved that it looks this ugly.

[reading mencius] ok i understand this is one of the most influential philosophical texts in the history of our species but every chapter is "dude you have to promise me. in a war. do not let your idiot brother manage your grain supply. preferably ask someone who knows how to manage grain supply"

I let myself have long breaks from Like A Dragon/Yakuza because there's so much you can burn yourself out, but when I come back it's always so good.

Next week the House E&C Committee is looking to run something of a shock and awe campaign, debating at least 19 bills that they say are related to "protecting kids online." Most of which are actually about censorship and control. Don't buy the framing. It's always the same damn thing.

Literally saw a video pass through my youtube recs a week ago with the thumbnail "STEAM - THE GOOD MONOPOLY" because a decade and a half of people self-propogandizing has had effects.
seeing people being like "ehhh Idkkkkk horses DOES sound kinda icky, I get why it was banned" like barely 2 months after a bunch of people kicked up the wildest possible hostile campagn against _itch_ makes me feel like I'm losing my mind lol

'Horses' doesnt contain anything more shocking than some well-known horror movies but because it's a video game, which people increasingly see as Content Delivery Software instead of art, people are confused by this

i think in this day and age more should be made that a regular book shop in your town has out there on the shelf books about sex, abuse, hate, gay shit, graphic violence, that one hitler wrote etc, and they're all there on the shelf unlabelled and unsupervised and society has not collapsed

one of the things i keep thinking about with the steam situation is booktok/tube discourse about whether books have too much porn now (they call it spice which i just can't you sound like duncan idaho) and if there should be enforced labelling or a rating system

Playing Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and recalling how many people complain that there aren't big budget turn based RPGs who basically slept on this game and its prequel.

IGN is paying attention to censorship again. Use their momentum, call visa and mastercard, tell them you read the article, ask them why they're censoring legal stuff

reminder that you don't need to know specifics of what's at play. It's often better to sound like a normie

a few posts on the steam thing are referencing how there's tons of anime porn on steam and that is technically true but also they will ban japanese games or visual novels if they're having a bad day or the humours were misaligned on tuesday or whatever

The Dragonlord fight in DQ1HD2D feels like kind of its worst balance excesses. It's extremely luck based but also extremely attrition based, just miserably tedious.
