bad at internet
One time I was at a major science event when a nerd rapper came to stage and Richard Dawkins stood up, walked to the glass doors at the exit and then stood still on the other side with his back turned towards the stage. Not one extra inch.

Probably the biggest power move I've ever witnessed live.

I domesticated a raccoon named Larry. Or I suppose she did me. She would come to my door in the morning and wait for me and then sit on my lap while she ate breakfast.

She brought her babies for three years and let me babysit them while she napped. It saved me from insanity. Cutest pet I ever had.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

It confuses me so much that posts like this not only survived the Trump 1.0 era but that they're still the most popular type of posts on this website well into the 2020s

The guy shot two random people with a gun, I don't think you can say he wasn't assimilating into our culture
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

There has never been a better or more valuable time in your entire life to donate or volunteer at a food bank.

I don't care if it's good politics this is the Tao.
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

The experience and national identity of the entire rest of the Americas being completely erased for yet another gazed navel of American exceptionalism
"The United States isn’t a nation like other nations, and it never has been. There is no American ethnicity to back up the state, and there was no such distinctive ethnicity even in 1776, when the U.S. was created."--Gordon Wood www.wsj.com/opinion/why-...
Opinion | Why America Is a ‘Creedal Nation’
The distinguished historian says the U.S. isn’t like other nations and never has been. There is no American ethnicity to back up the state.

I recently was asked by the Ontario Science Centre to consult (don't worry I didn't charge them) on what a science centre in 2030 should look like

It took me ten minutes before I realized that the main thing that I think would benefit science across the entire city is offering a free lunch program
