Received my FOUR replacement disks from the Diety Pair kickstarter. I wasn't a huge fan of Crunchyroll previously, but after this debacle I'm never dealing with them again.

Mandela effect is the logical culmination of conspiracy theory brain, you would rather construct an entire fictional parallel universe than admit you misremembered something.

"Death of the Author" doesn't mean separating the author's bad behaviour from their art. It means taking away their authority and allowing readers to interpret the art based on their own perspectives. It doesn't absolve the author of being a bastard, in fact it may inform how you interpret the art.

the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.
it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

I am failing the "get the appliance website to only show me things in stock" challenge. What is the point of the In Stock checkbox if you're going to insist on showing me things I can't buy anyway?

help i'd like to report my own murder.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Suddenly noticing that, while still they default to being turned on, I am able to remove the AI buttons from more and more places where they used to be baked in or required a little bit of hacking. Is it finally sinking in that we don't want this crap?

I am no pro gamer, but I am good enough at Hades 2 that walking into an instant kill last night made me madder at myself than I had been in a long while. The area is clearly marked, how did I setp out of bounds?

it's wild to think that about one CEO ago ago, people were looking at Google and Apple as brands they wore in their personal lives as badges of honour and in the space of less time than it takes a cicada to mature the consensus is now that they are the enemy of public safety
it is absolutely the tech companies fault that people now assume they’re doing something evil and sneaky even when they actually aren’t (regarding the latest Google kerfuffle)

like, no kidding that people have zero willingness to cut big tech the benefit of the doubt anymore

Normally the first time I make a recipe I follow it to the letter and make adjustments subsequent times. But I really need to not do that when they list an absurd amount of salt. This dal is amazing, but also salter than the ocean.

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

Because I hung out in SFF spaces online I ended up knowing a lot about publishing. Got in the door as an intern, pretty much never left after that.

As to how I chose it? I didnt have a job and they were paying.

The low-angel Frieren meme is genuinely inspiring. Someone braver than the troops shares a picture they know turned out weird. Thousands start sharing their own art, offering advice and laughing together at something that is genuinely hard.
