DSA organizes speed dating and other random outings; dems should as well. friday night magic, a stable of dnd dms, fill every niche. the fuck else are you doing, going to another gala?
It would be extremely smart if the Democratic Party held trainings and maybe subsidized equipment for members of local Democratic clubs to start making video content. Given the death of local news, there is a tremendous content void to be filled.
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

frankly i’m tired of electeds just posting about it. she does public events; organize counter protests. she attends galas; spill your drinks. it’s not enough to post about it
This is vile. Councilwoman Paladino's attitude must be rejected by our city government, and has no place outside a white supremacist rally.
How can someone claim to represent New Yorkers when they show such hatred toward a million of them?

Browsing Rob Reiner’s Wikipedia entry and of course clicked on Carl’s—he went to Evander Childs on Gun Hill Road. The influence that graduates of traditional non-screened Bronx and Brooklyn high schools have had in American arts, letters, sciences etc in the 20-21st century is simply preposterous

The NYT editorials are god awful but it is worth asking: why are some of them paid advertisements for the gizmo cult? Why are no critics being quoted? Why do Palmer Luckey and co. continue to not be asked hard questions by quite literally anyone in media?

everyone's favorite columnist isn't bothered, why are you?
it's good to dunk on these people but don't forget that the 40k dead every year were likely unjustifiably confident in the abilities of everyone driving. if it's so trivial, why so much blood?
tesla owners admitting without shame they don’t know how to drive anymore

i am convinced that most people making a strong argument for an ideological presence on twitter simply do not understand what recommenders are or how they work
Part of the problem i feel is that people want to treat Twitter as a Habermasian public sphere when in reality, the ideological skew is defined by Musk
This is probably the worst sales pitch I've ever heard - "join this app, everyone is radicalised, hates you and wants to argue with you" - 99% of social media users don't want an experience that resembles that at all

Having said something popular on radicalisation, let me say something unpopular. People on the left are going to have to tolerate sharing online spaces with the centre and centre-right if they don‘t want those people to radicalise.

helen prefers detente with the racists at the office and at large, because she can. i prefer knowing.
Now look at CBS. Installing Bari Weiss to run a news division isn’t a "pivot to the center." It is a deliberate hollowing out.
Take a legacy institution, gut its standards, wear its skin like a suit. They don’t want CBS's credibility; they want to destroy the idea that credible news exists at all.

and they can’t do it without the cooperation of thousands of journalists, columnists, editors, etc
