Rewatched some Star Trek tonight.
Still wild how a show about warp drives and weird nebulae ends up teaching the cleanest lessons about being human.
Every episode says the same thing in its own way:
‘Be curious. Be brave.

…Try not to fire phasers unless you really have to.”

Stunning footage from earlier today, when the new Kilauea eruption covered the USGS Webcam 3, which is situated in the Halemaʻumaʻu crater near the southern rim of the much larger Kilauea caldera.

This *isn't* what the people of Pompeii saw.

But it's not very far off.

Used the wonderful MathsPad tangent drawing tool tool today with Y11. They loved coming up to the board to try and position the perfect tangent! Seeing this immediate, very visible, feedback before they all started drawing independently was so useful. #MathsToday

In #MathsToday, because of residentials this week, I will only see my Y7 class in bits. So I started Don Steward's "Expression Pyramids" with them. It's a great set of tasks which build up to a really nice conclusion .Thanks to @mathsjem.bsky.social's www.resourceaholic.com for leading me to it.

Fibonacci Day is an informal holiday celebrated on November 23 to honor the Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa, also known as Fibonacci. The date, when written in the month/day format (11/23), represents the first four numbers of the Fibonacci sequence: 1, 1, 2, 3.

I find this image remarkable.

It's of the nucleus of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, photographed by the ESA Rosetta spacecraft.

That bright white plume is a jet of dust and water ice blasting from the nucleus—helping form the comet's long, dusty tail as it approaches the Sun.

Want to see a subtle use of AI? Just started watching "Last Samurai Standing" on @netflix.com. Chose "English with English Subtitles". The mouth movements as the characters talk match the dub track. I checked by switching to the original Japanese. Not sure now if the voice track is AI as well...😧
