Ken Burns documentary about the Butlerian Jihad be like:
The big article on data centers in the New Yorker is pretty good, which I wasn’t expecting given the reaction on X. Lots of talk of the good and bad of AI, and it covers both bubble & non-bubble arguments.

It also featured the best version of “I spoke to a local farmer about a data center”

This book was exactly the sort of thing I needed when I was going through a hard time, so I had to do a little fan-cover for it. I like to imagine it's illustrated like French serials novels!
Have you read my script for a theoretical fresh start Star Wars film? It's a Count of Monte Christo inspired tale of scheming nobles and a workers uprising, with a blue Danny Devito and a weaponised Gonk Droid. Artwork by Barry McGowan (facebook.com/mcgowanbarry) archiveofourown.org/works/39924441

Have you read my novel length 40k story The Trials of Sister Roslyn yet? It's probably my most well regarded and popular work. Sort of a cross between Full Metal Jacket and Orange is the New Black via the bleak Imperium. With artwork by @windlass.bsky.social

Hell, some of the discs of catalogue titles are the same discs that were produced *25 years ago*. You get Beetlejuice on DVD, and it's the same disc from 1999.

Yeah, they should have done a new encode at some point, but that is amazing to think about.

That DVD still exists, is still the dominant format, and that a good disc can actually still be alright and watchable quality when upscaled, they are a miracle.

And the sad part is that, somehow, DVD remains probably the most reliable home video format.

Part of what screwed Blu-ray take-up was just how terrible they were to play on a computer because of how complex the copy protection was, that it made it practically impossible.
The DVD (1996) is now as old as the original 8-inch floppy disk (1967) was when the DVD came out.

Have you read my short comic, One Hell of a Night, yet? It's a short, sexy, supernatural horror brought vividly to life by the incredible artwork of @comicnerdsam.bsky.social . A good thing to repost for the spooky season.

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on
I was really engaged for the first 2 thirds. Really interesting concept, set up, excited to see how they resolved the plot threads and ... they just didn't.
That wasn't very good at all.
"An otherwise good film" okay I just finished it, and I take that back.
I'm watching Late Night Woth the Devil and I honestly do not know what possessed them to use ai generated art for the break to ads. Every image looks like ass and is very obviously ai if you know what you're looking for and it really discracts from the 70s vibe. A blight on an otherwise good film.
They're not even passable! The skeleton has fucked up fingers and the owl TV has 5 million pointless buttons.
Its so weird because they pulled out all the stops to make it feel as authentically 70s as possivle and just skimped on the cards and it just pulls you out of the moment whenever they hit.
