PAGE 3 1. Kinnockern's head metamorphises into a featureless mass of eyeballs. His hands extend into sharp claws. He is now DEMON LORD KROGNOTH. KROGNOTH: WHATEVER YOU ARE, YOU'LL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE. AROTH: LETS JUST GET THIS OVER WITH. 2. The two demons leap to attack each other. KROGNOTH: I DID MY DUTY. DID WHAT HELL DEMANDED. MANIPULATED. RULED FROM THE SHADOWS. AROTH: I TOLD YOU OLD MAN. HELL'S UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. KROGNOTH: HA! LIKE SOME MORTAL REVOLUTION? 3. Aroth punches Krognoth mid air and he goes crashing through a table. AROTH: AS ABOVE SO BELOW! SFX: CRASH! 4. Krognoth grabs the shotgun from the wall, striking Aroth and knocking her back. The barrels break off. KROGNOTH: IT AMUSES ME THAT YOU THINK I'D GO QUIETLY. SFF: CRRACK! PAGE 4 1. Seemingly defeated, Aroth has fallen to the floor. Krognoth throws the gun down at her to gloat. KROGNOTH: NO BLADE HAS EVER PIERCED MY FLESH. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'D SUCCEED? 2. Aroth catches the shotgun, infusing it with burning energy. AROTH: WELL... 3. Aroth fires the shotgun into Krognoth's chest, obliterating his midsection and sending him flying through the air. AROTH: I FIGHT WITH BIGGER WEAPONS. SFX: KABLAMMM! 4. Exterior of the gentleman's club. It is a grand old building but even from the outside the damage from the fight can be seen. Windows are smashed, cracks are in the wall. Members of the club as well as humble British Bobbies have gathered in a panic. Aroth, in human form, has left the building, dragging Kinnockern in one hand, the smoking shotgun in the other. POLICEMAN: OI! WOT'S ALL THIS THEN? OLD CLUB MEMBER: OUR CLUB, OFFICER! IT'S STOOD FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS! ANOTHER OLD CLUB MEMBER: IT'S A BRITISH INSITUTION. THIS DAMAGE CANNOT BE PERMITTED! 5. Have you read my short comic BIGGER GUNS? Written by me and with eye exploding art by @turbomiracle.bsky.social . It's a story of a demonic bounty hunter scouring London for a target that fails to have realised that Hell has moved on.
Comic PAGE 1 1. Long shot view of a muscular woman on a Vincent Black Shadow motor bike travelling along the road somewhere in the British suburbs at night in the 1960's. There are trees and wooded areas at the side of the road, dotted with little houses here and there. She is anachronistically dressed in a sleeveless leather jacket and trousers and a white tank top, a spiked dog collar around her neck. This is AROTH. 2. Aroth pulls up to a petrol station. A gang of young men, dressed in the style of the Mods, are leaning on their scooters, chatting and smoking. A cocky one with teddy boy hair leads them. MOD: SO THEN I SEZ, TRY THIS ONE FOR SIZE YOU... 3. Out of shot Aroth casts a massive shadow over the group. They all look nervous and shocked, apart from their leader, who has his back to her, and is turning with a grin on his face. AROTH: HEY KID, WHICH WAY TO SHEARS? MOD: YOU DOIN' SOME GARDNIN' LUV? 4. Point of view shot from the Mods perspective. Aroth is towering over them, eyes looking demonic, muscles rippling, body half covered in shadow, full moon looming behind her. AROTH: IT'S A FUCKING CLUB YOU WHELP! MOD: I, UHHH, UHHH... CLUB? AROTH: A.... HURM.... GENTLEMAN'S CLUB. PAGE 2 1. Interior view of Shears Gentleman's Club. It is a warmly lit room with wooden walls. Fine portraits of former members are displayed on the wall, along with mounted stag heads and various weapons. A double barrel hunting shotgun is mounted above a roaring fireplace. In large plush chairs sit stuffy older gentlemen with elaborate moustaches in formal clothes. They play cards, smoke pipes and chat. There is a commotion going on behind the main door. DOORMAN (BEHIND DOOR): I'M SORRY MADAME, BUT FOR CENTURIES SHEARS HAS NOT PERMITTED A WOMAN TO... URK! AROTH (BEHIND DOOR): OUTTA' MY WAY WORM! 2. Aroth kicks the door open, practically exploding it into shards. AROTH: LORD HARRY KINNOCKERN! SFX: CRACKKKKKK! 3. View of one of the English gentlemen sitting in the corner. He wears a tweed suit and has a large moustache not unlike Lord Kitchener from the old recruitment posters. This is LORD HARRY KINNOCKERN. He looks disturbed but calm. AROTH: OR SHOULD I SAY DEMON LORD KROGNOTH? YOUR TIME HAS COME CREEP! KINNOCKERN: I MUST SAY I'VE BEEN AWAY FOR FAR TOO LONG. KINNOCKERN: HELL IS USING SUCCUBI AS BOUNTY HUNTERS NOW? 4. Aroth flexes, a flash of flame erupting from her as she reveals her true form. Her hair is now wilder, two massive curved horns have now sprouted from her head. Her fingernails are sharper, and a tail swings behind AROTH: NAME'S AROTH, AND I'M NO SUCCUBUS DIPSHIT. KINNOCKERN: I WON'T BE LAID LOW BY SOMEONE OF A LESSER STATION! AROTH: TIMES HAVE CHANGED OLD MAN. HELL HAS MOVED ON.

Cap threatens Monocle with a gun, who doesn't take him seriously. Cap shoots Monocle, whose body falls into the hole and lands on top of a spike that the oil is bubbling around. Traditional gnome looks horrified. Oil bursts from the hole into the air, as Cap dances with glee, however, Traditional gnome shouts back, confirming that they are doomed, as we zoom out to see them get flattened by a giant hand. In the final panel, it reveals they have been harvesting the blood of a giant nature goddess, who has finally had enough of them.

Have you read my short comic about the complex systems of resource procurement in gnome society, with art by master gnome illustrator @iraganaart.bsky.social ? Well in case you missed it, here's the whole emotionally wrenching saga once again.
Two gnomes stand over a hole in the ground, one weas a cap, the other a Monocle and top hat. They quibble with a more traditional looking gnome, who is digging for oil. Monocle demands results, as another gnome shouts "It's back!" and a mysterious force knocks them off their feet. Traditional Gnome shouts back that they are agitating the creature. Cap and Monocle argue over the bonus, while an oil like substance begins to bubble from the hole in the ground.

Just got finished reading this myself and have to say I was a tad worried Roy was going to explain too much of the backstory but instead just gave us more breadcrumbs that lead to greater mysteries, which is the best part of his universe. You love to see it. Another modern classic.

The mysterious hacker known only as The Kestrel sows chaos and disorder from a hidden location somewhere beneath the streets of Santa Agua. Nobody knows who, or what, they are, nor their ultimate agenda, but what they do know that if you have them on your side, there is no fortress you can't breach.
