Minor thread taking the piss out of some of the more vision boardy writing from the post ‘20 abolitionist movement has me thinking about an issue within abolitionism that I’ve been thinking about a great deal lately - call it differentiating police and prisons from Police and Prisons

Latine is a perfectly functional, elegant solution to the problem of gendering in Spanish, neopronouns are cool, the word triggered is very useful and ought to be resuscitated for practical purposes, we need to stop fleeing new language ideas just because Greg Gutfeld

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

in online corners like these I think people largely recognize how credulous, unprincipled opposition to "wokeness" functioned as lightly papered over defenses of impunity, but it's one of those drums people should probably start beating for normies
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

If we don't push her hard from the left, she'll be able to hide behind Stefanik.
To get NYS to tax the rich, Zohran and we, the many, have the same objective but two distinct tasks:

Zohran's task is to play nice with the governor right up until the moment that becomes a dead-end.

Our task, as @nychange.bsky.social shows by example, is to push Hochul relentlessly, starting now.
🚨BREAKING: We’re ready for Round 2! Today, we came to Wall Street to endorse @delgadoforny.bsky.social for Governor.

While bankers rake in record profits, working people are being crushed. The choice is clear: corporate politics under Kathy Hochul or people power with Antonio Delgado.

I actually don’t think Republican sickos starving the American people should launder their reputations by donating the equivalent of two rusty pennies to charity
An idea: what if Members of Congress who are being paid taxpayer dollars *not to show up to work* were to give their pay -- or a chunk of it -- to food banks to help feed people being denied federal benefits during their shutdown? Could be a nice non-partisan way for Members to come together.

Going to phrase something another way. Why is Henry George so broadly associated with 19c Populism and Edward Kellogg kind of forgotten in broader narratives around it? Part of it has to do with individual fame but another reason is that George is much easier to see as "classical econ but labor-ist"

His victory reminds me that, though Black Studies is under attack, though Black Studies has not been immune to the elitist liberal capitalist politics of many institutions, it’s politically imaginative potential is still possible and yet to be realized.
