I got bullied for being weird and short and talking "proper." I took on Proper as a name because of this. I *literally* had to learn to become cool and that meant not openly liking geek shit through high school. It wasn't until I was about 21 when I embraced it again and found other blerds finally.
I really do not understand why we can’t be nuanced and admit that some Black people genuinely were rejected for being weird and that “weird” was often equivalent to “white.” 😵💫
