Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.

This is obviously disgusting and racist shows utter contempt towards vulnerable people. But as one of the high earners (for now) who is supposedly (still) welcome here: I'm not actually here to "give" to a country that would kick me out if they could. I'm here cause I got a job, a fiance and friends
This is so disgusting.

I once did a deeply puerile thing and rang the Home Office to ask for comment on the growing campaign to abolish the Home Office, which was basically "one think tank paper and some posts". The note of genuine panic in the flack's voice is something I cherish to this day. See how you fucking like it.
This is so disgusting.

ACU is hiring in ethics, too. Speaking just for myself, I'd love it if they'd hire someone who could do a bit of decision theory.

If conservatives were for real, if they actually believed in the stuff their intelligentsia quote from Burke and Oakshotte, I actually think they'd specifically hate this. But alas far too often it's just a thin veneer of intellectualism over instinctive hates and bigotries, so here we are.

This looks like a great opportunity for someone interested in doing a PhD related to autonomy. Essex has an excellent group of political and moral philosophers.

EU citizens: you still have 12 days to have your say on the modernisation of the EU’s animal welfare legislation.

Here @humaneworldeurope.bsky.social explains why participation in the @ec.europa.eu’s consultation is so important. www.humaneworld.org/europe/en/ca...
