People, Dust Bunny (2025) was so flipping good. Please watch it. I knew nothing about it going in, so I'm not sharing a trailer on purpose. Just know it's the best monster movie for 10 year olds ever. And, if you're mad about Mads like @flophousepodcast.com then it's got you covered.

I just did a search for the phrase "sick figure" in my photo cloud and got this image. It is a weirdly amazing cross-section of my life.

I'm pretty sure @pattonoswalt.bsky.social is sitting next to me at this SLC Sky Club. Anyway, if you are, hi. Now I'll go back to doing what I normally do: ignoring famous people because I'm scared of being an idiot in front of them.

🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge actually issued a removal order.

Couple of things here:

1. Trump says he took another cognitive test recently

2. In front of "large numbers of doctors and experts"

3. He called the examinations "long...and very boring"

4. If you're given 3 cognitive exams in one year by panels of doctors, something is VERY wrong with you

Looks like I am headed to D&D University in January. Yes, this is a thing. Yes, it is run by D&D in a Castle and thus at the most castle-like university in the Atlanta area (Oglethorpe). Yes, research takes you weird and amazing places.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

For comparison, every robotic mission NASA has ever sent in its history, from the dawn of the Space Age 65 years ago to today, from Mercury to Pluto and beyond, has cost less than $40B.

I know which one has done more for humankind and which one should be dismantled.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the ‘Metaverse’ has cost Meta more than $77B

The company now plans to cut spending on it and shift focus to AI wearables instead

@cracksh0t.bsky.social some important Paranormal updates.
if you live in LA, the Paranormal Activity play is really good, much better than you'd expect a Paranormal Activity play to be. You do not need to know anything about the movies, they wisely ditch the lore of the movie series and do their own thing.

Semester is all over except the grading. My office is tidied, my articles set aside to transcribe into quotes for my Intro chapter, and I'm ready to head to CO to visit my Mom. Medical problems are currently minimal. Yoga is happening tomorrow. NYE party planned. Things seem ok.
