My name’s Dri, I’m a french programmer working for a AAA game studio. I specialize in engine tools. But in my spare time I don a few more hats to create small indie games on my own, with a custom engine and tools. Here’s a thread of my projects to date:
I kinda forced myself to finish Mythic Quest: standalone episodes excluded, it's a sad example of an aimless show, repeating the same tired jokes and conflicts every episode. It has very little to do with game development, the depiction of which grows more ridiculous with each season. What a waste..

Your survival isn't having a hit.. It's having a body of work you grow and expand. Until it cannot be denied and cannot be stopped. Momentum thru mass and perseverence.

That's my strategy..my advice: you make it yours;)

Similar with Zelda. As a kid I got to play Ocarina, Majora and Wind Waker in rapid succession, all formative experiences that shaped me as a gamedev. A young teen in 2017 would have become a late teen by the time Tears came out. That's not the same exposure at all...

I think it's important to take note of WHO the skeptics and enthusiasts are. This has more in common with crypto and NFTs than internet or smartphones.
I have no doubt the AI *branding* is here to stay, but I don't think LLMs will contribute much to the future.
Biggest problem I have with AI skeptics is that I remember the Internet skeptics. I remember the smart phone skeptics. I remember the streaming skeptics. I remember the social media skeptics. My whole life people have been denying futures that have come to pass. So I'm skeptical of the skepticism.

Pixel art is now a moral imperative
Basically every GPU maker has close ties to the far right so that means graphics are fascist.

I *love* the idea of Linux. I really, really do, but this is the average user experience of Linux and it has been like this for DECADES and I'm genuinely amazed that no one has sorted this out as a priority.
linux update: can’t get steam to start in kubuntu. had to boot in -verbose in terminal to see the error message — a recent regression in libsdl? loving this first day of linux

On a more positive note, I've finally managed to AOT compile C# to WASM without the whole Blazor cruft, with reasonable file sizes. Excited to finally have a web tech that doesn't suck ass. With this I can finally build complex Canvas-based tools accessible from a web browser or mobile!

A propos of absolutely nothing: while a captain going down with their ship is usually seen as admirable, the reverse isn't true. Dude, we keep telling you it's an iceberg, steer or give the wheel to someone else!

Google continues to wage war against my good will. They've updated Google Docs to move the Indent/Outdent actions that were available above the keyboard to be at the bottom half of a 'Format' sub menu. For me who use Docs mainly to write indented lists, the software has just become unusable.

Starting with Teams -- aka one of the worst piece of software in the whole world -- was a smart move to drive adoption and create goodwill. Now the real question will be how to replace Windows...

I've been following the progress of this project on-and-off for *decades*. It may even have already been around back when I was active in the french RPG Maker community, more than twenty years ago. That's how old it is. Seeing it get a release date is a *big* deal! Congrats, @sylvanor.bsky.social!

Want to be very clear to anyone even remotely thinking about coming to events like GDC: Don't. It's not safe to be in the US, nobody's hiring or financing anyway, and it's not worth your life.
January 24, 2026 at 6:12 PM
Honestly, I don't know how the USA can recover from this. The curtain fell and the rule of law was exposed as complete fiction. There's no justice, no consequences for crimes, no opposition from the political class. The social contract was all a lie. You can't just resume believing in Santa Claus.

At this point my distaste for Linux's package and dependencies system is well documented but this is a new low...
TIL you can "get gnomed" when using Linux.

A combination of installed packages can cause GNOME desktop to spontaneously appear on your computer.

There's even a whole subreddit dedicated to it.

It's genuinely confusing why, over and over again, organizations that cater to, or are dependent upon, artists writers and creators decide to absolutely fucking enrage their constituency with "AI," only to be required to backtrack after considerable loss of goodwill
San Diego Comic-Con will no longer allow AI 'art' to be displayed at their event

"Material created by AI either partially or wholly, is not allowed in the art show"

This follows backlash from artists after SDCC initially indicated AI-generated work would be permitted

If they have to beg, it means they know. That's not the behavior of someone confident in the value of their tech. They know they have made a very expensive mistake and they want us to bail them out. How about no

This is simply not technically possible. You cannot generate enough writing in-house to train an LLM. You cannot generate enough art in-house to train a GAN. People who think they have a model "trained on our own material" are using a base model of mass-scraped data, unknowingly or disingenuously.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."

It's kinda jarring playing RPGs now where everyone fears the evil demon lord and their monsters.

Realistically, 49-51% of the population would be complicit with the evil demon lord and their monsters.
