Trump announces a “full and unconditional” pardon for Juan Orlando Hernandez, a former president of Honduras sentenced to 45 years for drug trafficking and weapons offenses.

I taught composition and technical writing at OU for three years. This decision is a disgrace. If instructors are expected to treat personal beliefs as formal “evidence,” then why even bother offering courses?
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Exactly right. I've graded thousands of college essays, and this one is a bottom 10-percenter.
If you spend decades undermining a liberal arts education, you get college students who can't write a decent essay. But you also get adults who can't recognize a decent essay and sincerely think the issue is the beliefs and not that reading this is painful.

Murdering crew members claiming they were smuggling drugs while pardoning a drug kingpin. Very on brand for the Trump regime.

Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running. This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.

@governorwalz.mn.gov, my mom spent her last couple years at the Episcopal Church Home in St. Paul. She was mostly cared for by Somali refugees, who were uniformly kind, professional, and patient. Thanks to them her last years were comfortable and safe. Thank you, MN, for your kind, open hearts.

Stephen Miller’s ancestors were Jewish refugees from the pogroms in czarist Russia. They came to the U.S. in the early twentieth century, even as racists said this same stuff about them.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Had Trump not ignored a week-old court order to withdraw the troops from DC, no one would have been shot and all the members of the WV guard would have been home sor Thanksgiving.

I honor her service, but I also won't forget Trump's hand in this.

This is a tragedy on so many levels, and as usual Trump is exploiting it for his own bad ends.
20-year-old West Virginia National Guard member, Sarah Beckstrom, died a day after volunteering to serve in DC so that others could enjoy Thanksgiving with their families. She deserves our gratitude, not political exploitation by a shameless president who scapegoats immigrants to swell his power.

This is fundamentally Nazism. The idea that different peoples than the favored races carry degradation in their very genes, that they cannot strive to become better because biology compels them to be worse. It’s not just repugnant, it’s a bald faced lie.

I find bewildering the push by many to focus on reaching out voters who believe different things from Dems rather than trying to motivate voters who believe the same things as Dems but who for one reason or another didn't vote, don't regularly vote, etc. I'm sure there is a great wisdom behind this.

It's really shocking that Trump's DOJ, because a grand jury in the James Comey case refused to agree to their bogus indictment, bypassed that grand jury and lied to the judge about the grand jury deciding on fake indictments. Beyond appalling. Such a corrupt administration.
