Once again giving Xbox fanboys the advice that got me through the death of the Dreamcast:

Just buy a Gamecube. It's getting Sonic Adventure and PSO, and then you can get a PS2 after Shinobi comes out

Looney Tunes is in the top 10 TV series streaming on Tubi. I chatted with them about why that is and argued for why FAST and AVOD make an ideal home for classic animation.
After leaving HBO Max earlier this year, ‘Looney Tunes’ is a hit on Tubi, the company says, and popular across generations. It should be a model for every classic cartoons trapped in streaming limbo.

As preteen, the Venn diagram between "cool villains" and "jesus CHRIST ladies" was a full circle in Batman Beyond bsky.app/profile/dand...
Look, I know that it began airing when I was in fifth grade, so I was in the prime spot for it, but the women of Batman Beyond had a HOLD on me.
Fucking insane.
So you should really watch this. Just 2 minutes. But a window into the truly radical nature of the people Trump is nominating.

When pressed today, the nominee to be Ambassador to South Africa refuses to oppose reinstituting laws to prevent black people from voting in America.
Absolutely wild. Like seeing Mario Party on PlayStation.
Halo on PlayStation. What a world.
It was nice while it lasted! Basically the tagline of every website at this point.
TV Tropes is blocking access to the site not only if you have ad blockers on but location tracking off unless you want to subscribe to their $5 a month/$25 a year subscription plan. Even people who have turned their ad blockers off are reporting the site isn’t working. This all seems like a bad idea

TROPE: Popular website built entirely on unpaid community labour dies after blocking content from community unwilling to submit to exploitative data collection monetization methods.

Watched this and laughed so hard I cried.
No correct aspect ratio upload to be found on YouTube, and I could be more rigorous about my editing, but I genuinely think this is some of the funniest 106 seconds in comedy history, and definitely in my top five Simpsons jokes.

Batman Beyond villains often lacked the pathos of classic Batman characters, but they made up for it by being consistently rad

Americans want to watch charismatic people solve moderately difficult problems on a weekly basis. That’s it. And a group of fomo execs and techbros who don’t watch TV drove one of the most profitable industries in the US off a cliff rather than accept that.
Look what happenes when a TV show releases every year, with more than 8 episodes a season.

I know I'm always banging on about this, but food banks can do so much more with your donation if you give money rather than food itself.
food banks have already been under pressure over the past several years, and with SNAP benefits expiring they're going to be the only safety net for a lot of people

please donate what you can. $100 can feed several families for a month because of the discounts and purchasing power they have
The Lord of the Rings has like two characters from The Hobbit in it and the tone is wildly different, should we hate it because it's not a true direct sequel?

Yes, I'm saying Chrono Cross is The Lord of the Rings to Chrono Trigger's The Hobbit.
Chrono Cross is my favorite video game of all time and I think the resistance to it shows how literally minded a lot of RPG fans can be. People yelling about how it's not a "direct sequel" as if all sequels follow the same characters in the same setting.
I remain a staunch defender of Chrono Cross. Gorgeous game, with more little strings connecting it to Trigger than people give credit for, especially once you've played Radical Dreamers. The whole connective tissue all the way through all three is what makes it feel deeper and more important.

If you named it anything else, people would gleefully put it on the list of solid PS1 RPGs with some flaws. Legend of Dragoon is a notably worse game, but Chrono Cross gets shit on much harder because people were expecting Chrono Trigger 2 and got something more innovative.

i feel like any conversation about how much games should or shouldn’t cost is incomplete and maybe even pointless without acknowledgement that all but like 27 people in America are paid less than they should be

there are lots of problems with the gaming audience, and much we can blame them for. they're creatively incurious, actively aggressive towards developers, and the entire medium has been captured by an insane culture war for over a decade. if anything they are too willing to spend 100 dollars

Next year, we'll welcome 125,000 new New Yorkers to our city. But many families don't have what they need to give their babies a healthy start.

Building on @bkbpreynoso.bsky.social's pilot, we'll launch citywide Baby Baskets, providing new parents with essential items and resources.

I've invented a wondrous new de-aging technology for Hollywood to use. It's called "hiring a second actor"
It's so funny that Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is a whole movie about how an electric Nebraska would suck and Bruce couldn't bear to put out anything but the original demo recordings he had made at home and that they're releasing those exact same electric recordings to tie into the movie.
