I'm here for joy, not doom, not politics.
Reader, editor, quilter, hermit, ignores most dms (but not from Maggie because she has Linus stickers). If you complain about entire generations of humans, I will block you.

All super rich guys sound the same now. It’s all “I sleep four hours a night and spend the other twenty hours a day developing a product that’s going to bring us the best widespread poverty anyone’s ever seen.”

@duckinggreyduck.bsky.social I was sitting here, drinking my coffee, not wanting to get ready for work, and dreaming about our shoes, when it occurred to me that while I have foam (from bag making) that I *also* have wool batting scraps from quilts.

WOOL BATTING IN MY SHOES! 😍

And it's not just that we pay...we pay religious orgs to do a lot of the anti poverty work. I invite you to look into your state budget and find out how many hundreds of thousands of dollars are going to for instance, Catholic "charities" which is just the church.
One of the most common replies in any discussion of universal basic income is "but how do we pay for it?" and not once do those same people ever question the costs incurred by not doing UBI. We spend $1.5 trillion every year on the costs of child poverty alone. Poverty ain't free, folks. WE ALL PAY.

Hustle culture isn't for everybody. If you don't wanna do it then don't do it. Nobody is forcing you to eat pineapple on your pizza OK.

But if you love the high of tacking ideas and achieving projects, then you're who I write for:
8 Traits of High Performers According To Matt Gray
I found this list of "high performer" traits by Matt Gray on LinkedIn and it reinforced my confidnce.

Appliances and vendors who don't want me to use their stupid phone app are rapidly becoming my favorites.

I have so few apps on my phone and I am disinclined to add any, so if the only way I can <whatever they think I need to be able to do conveniently> is through a phone app, I'm out. ✌️

I'll see your edict and raise you:
There should be a moratorium on "Please give us your feedback.." period. Full stop. The genre of product review is 99% ridiculous. (Are reviews occasionally useful? Yes. But not often enough to justify the onslaught of electronic begging for opinions).
Edict: there should be a moratorium on "please give feedback on your item" emails for 6 weeks from 20 Nov. We've all bought presents for people, we can't review them yet, leave us alone!

any editors out there want a piece that’s a blend of personal narrative & reporting on breaking the silence around suicide, inspired by my last few days on social media? DM me. (retweets appreciated—I started writing it this AM)

I made the obvious error of quoting Vonnegut on here.

I deleted the post but not before some folks followed me, so new followers, please know: this is a boring account.

And unless your feed is mostly about making things, or horror movies or your pet, I'm not likely to follow back. Fair warning. 😁

It would be really cool to get to 300 lifetime sales by the end of the year. I'm 31 away, and it's currently free most places.

The new quilt frame is still at least a week away, which is fine, I have plenty of sorting and rearranging to do.

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the glee of anticipation. I am really excited for something I genuinely love doing to be easier on my old bones: more making, less pain. 😊
