And then it always ends up with arguments between largely early transitioners and closeted trans girls who say they feel represented by such art, set against mostly girls who've been out a while and have noticed how much others are obsessed with finding the man in us, and it's very exhausting.

So we get this odd cyclical discourse about how important it is to celebrate non-passing, early-transition, or otherwise "non-stereotypical" depictions of trans women when frankly it's as "non-stereotypical" to depict us as plane jane feminine women as anything us, because there isn't much anyway.

At 7 years old, I told my mum and dad I was supposed to be a girl. My mum shouted me (dad let it happen) deep into trauma with threats that essentially translated to: “If you EVER say that to anyone else, they'll take you away and put you in an asylum.”
I was seven.
