After foxing up WordPress last year, I've finally gotten the Ninefox Gambit webcomic back online. Echoes the Candle Arc *comic* although the *2D animation* (preproduction) is over at the sister site candlearc.com. Signed, still buried under orchestration homework, back to work!

Emotional support spinning. IxChel's wallaby blend (ixchel.com.au/collections/...) is almost better than unmentionable things.

("Unmentionable things" are probably Mechabellum and/or Balatro tbh. :p)

Thank you to my sister for this indulgent Xmas gift, a taishogoto...I'm impressed because finding an instrument whose TYPE I had never heard of usually Takes Some Doing from a non-musician... Then again, I'm the rando who learned THIS YEAR of the munniharppu (but I knew about "jaw harps")!

Anyone have recs? Please ACTUAL full time wheelchair users, not "kinda relevant adjacent."
Does anyone have suggestions for SF & F in which the main character is a full time wheelchair user?

Literally asking this for a friend who uses a chair and wants to see themselves in a book.

you think you need to leave intelligent, thoughtful comments? lmao no

“loved it!” is all you need to say. blurt that out on Steam, YouTube, Amazon for whatever game, book, or video caught your fancy

The algorithm is all consuming but you can help cool people by just commenting “👍🏼”’ so do it
PRO TIP

If you have YouTubers you like and follow and watch their videos a lot

leave innane/positive comments on their videos. The algo is all fucked up for YT creators and a lot of videos get sent to the void for whatever reason.

I hate doing it, but I've been trying to do it.

Listening to this podcast on gamemastering D&D etc and realizing all over again I just want to play the smash smash character with zero interiority.

This horrifies most gamers but my day job is nonstop interiority for asshole characters & I need to recharge!

New-to-me spinning wheel day! Left: Louët S90. Right: the patient Ashford Traveller. :3

Y'all, spinning at 18:1 is WILD after teaching myself to spin COTTON on 6:1 because my Traveller haaaaates the smaller whorls! (This is a skill issue, but if I can do it at 6:1...)

Mass murder.
"It was estimated in early November that 600,000 people had already died because of [the USAID] cuts, with two-thirds of them being children.

I think it is fair to say that this is a crime against humanity. It is a staggering number of deaths."
Crimes against humanity
We need to make a bigger issue of what happened to the world when Elon Musk decimated USAID.

If you're wondering why so much randomposting this morning, I'm bracing for A Lot of Dental Work in an hour (I have the world's nicest dentist, it's not her fault my teeth are terribad) and I expect to be nonfunctional the rest of today. :]

For home-produced fiber, since cotton is verboten without a license here for good reason (boll weevils...), I am sitting here contemplating

(a) catten (spinnable but, uh, weirdly low yield given how much catten floof is all over the house lolsob)

(b) milkweed (BUTTERFLIES!!!)

Genuinely world's tiniest viola complaint but I have made the horrifying discovery that my two fave wool varieties for spinning are

(a) merino :sob: (available everywhere but spendy)
(b) North Ronaldsay (for SOME REASON, aggravating to source from Louisiana, something something sea sheep)

Me, a dumbass: Well, don't want to wake the husband so let's spin in the (mostly) dark!

Me, two hours later: Ah, the husband's awake! Now I can turn on the light--

Me, with aphantasia: Huh, that's pretty but BOY HOWDY did I completely misremember the color of this batt (received two days ago).

Me, skimming a book: This says "modern" weavers are venturing into "new" fibers like SILK--?!

Me, backtracking: Oh, the context is specifically USA.

My mom lives in the boonies in S Korea; the SMOL provincial museum CASUALLY displays 1,000-year-old calligraphy on SILK SCROLLS because "common."

Signed up! :) Kythryne does *spectacular* work.
Signups are open for Pretty Rocks Club 2026!

The theme for our seventh year is "liar liar pants on fire" and it will be all about things that aren't what they look like or claim to be. I’ve been planning this one for years now and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

It's sure An Experience spinning in a semi-dark room (sleeping husband) so I'm actually not sure I remember what COLOR this batt is.

(I spin *more* consistently if I can't SEE what I'm spinning because then I'm going by feel. That said, I need enough light to figure out when I need to make a join!)
