After foxing up WordPress last year, I've finally gotten the Ninefox Gambit webcomic back online. Echoes the Candle Arc *comic* although the *2D animation* (preproduction) is over at the sister site candlearc.com. Signed, still buried under orchestration homework, back to work!

How is it already time to sign up for Yuletide? I haven't even looked at the tagset this year.

Tonight’s #CriticalRole begins in about an hour!

The secret at the heart of the Candescent Creed revealed, our adventurers must act at once as the danger in Dol-Makjar rises and the search for Occtis Tachonis presses in from all sides.

Haunted by the feeling that somewhere, something has gone terribly wrong.

(Fear not: I died before I could tackle Balatro going into SCIENTIFIC NOTATION in Ante 14, dinner then back to work...)

Nothing says "cyberpunk" like doing what a billionaire tells you to do
nothing says “cyberpunk” like owning a $100,000 vehicle

Did folks forget the part where cyberpunk was dystopian, not aspirational...?
Whenever I feel my life is too frivolous and empty of meaning or utility, I like to read a good flamewar about fountain pen filling systems (me: ...pick one you like? it's not a religion?) or about "correct" uses of vibrato in violin performance. :3

The first edition of the Monster Manual really knew what to do.
The AD&D Monster manual, 1st edition, featuring a lovely Dragon, a lovely Unicorn, a Lovely Centaur, and some unlovely things underground.

“Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter he earned high seven figures for the role, plus a seven-figure producing fee.”

I should do a blog post on this, but I’ll do a brief thread here, as it’s something in the comics industry that riles me up.

“No One Asked for This Reboot”: ‘Tron’ May Mark End of Jared Leto’s Franchise-Leading Days
As 'Ares' disappoints, insiders question whether the self-styled boundary-pushing A-lister can still be counted on to carry a franchise vehicle to the bank.

I long to draw clean, elegant, crisp lines but the attempt usually makes me (metaphorically) homicidal. I've given up on photorealism or clean, elegant, crisp, Art Nouveau / Art Deco lines. Scribbly sketching is what I naturally produce; so be it.
NSFW sketch: A Binary Dilemma. Kujen/Jedao, a.k.a. "For love of spork could you have any WORSE taste in boyfriends, BOTH OF YOU?!"

...I was sketching some backstory and this happened.

Machineries of Empire is like a kazillion series where if everyone got GOOD therapy, no plot would happen. :p

JEEP!
Day 15 - Favorite Prop

Jeep! Who is actually the reason I decided to make Hakkai, and not the other way around. I made the pattern up as I went along, and people always comment on how cute he is whenever I wear Hakkai.

Explaining to my husband that I took Latin, which means that if timeteleported to Ancient Rome, I have no hecking clue how to say "How are you doing?" or "Pass the bread" as opposed to "CARTHAGO DELENDA EST" x eleventyzillion, or anything with "necare" in it.
Yeah, I hear horror stories from my daughter about working conditions for people in webtoons/webcomics/manga/etc whom she follows. :]

I honestly would rather this series be monthly or even bi-monthly, if it meant the creative team could stay healthy
Today in recuperation: persuading the reader that Menowen Is Correct and Jedao is an a$$hole goose (Candle Arc #2 WIP).

I don't think this is impossible mode as narrative side quests go. :]

(Tempted to TRACE a photo of my catten for Catten Pic, which ought to be okitty if I TOOK THE PHOTO.)
Candle Arc #2 (webcomic as cockamamie 2D animation storyboard) page layout WIP (Yoon Ha Lee)
This is objectively the best opinion about narrative. :3
My other very specific opinion about narrative (though not books as such) is that all unsatisfying endings to kdrama/cdrama romances can be traced directly to the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl and their stupid magpies
Today's read while recuperating: DRACULA, MOTHERF**ER! by @alexdecampi.bsky.social and Erica Henderson.

(I needed the catten for comfort! I am a GIANT CHICKEN with anything horror-adjacent. Whereas catten thinks videogame alien flesh-rending noises are "ah, dinner is served NOM.")

My kid sister thought Hamlet was a COMEDY! (She borrowed the school copy I was reading.)
I thought I was going to hate 9th grade Romeo & Juliet because it would be full of cooties. (Someone should have spoiled me it was full of MURDERCIDE!!!) Instead I loved it so much I ended up reading my way through a bunch of Shakespeared in the HS library for fun!
This was me and THE GREAT GATSBY!
