Very queer, unfortunately here, getting used to it. (he/him). Owns Majestic Mess Designs and makes art. Void screaming, media analysis, spoilers, GY!BE, Critical Role, queer media. Loves to draw brains symbolic of my chronic pain. #CriticalRole

Welcome to Blue Sky!
Here's a little review of since features and cultural norms for newer users:

- There is no algorithm. Liking is nice but does little to boost visibility. If you like it, share it.

- Conversely, the only way for garbage to spread is by sharing it. Don't hate-share to dunk.

Oregon is a good person.

Years back on Elon’s hellscape I remember they were donating meals and grocery money for people who needed it.

It’s time to support the person who generously supported others when they could.

Look I've been holding off from months asking this on Bluesky because of my pride but I need help.

My car needs brakes, my rent is past due and my step kid needs shoes.

I hate having to ask this

A digital painting of Keyleth from critical role sitting on some rocks at the foot of a big tree. She wears a long green dress and on her shoulders is a mantle made of leaves that fade from green to yellow to red as it falls down her shoulders. Her red hair is crowned with a circlet and two antlers.

* I think we’ll likely see a very small Office for Civil Tights Office based out of DC that exists to harass Harvard and Princeton and Smith College and Morehouse

Setting aside “that’s not how LC works”

they fired everyone in the office for civil rights in the department of education

people who have absolutely no idea, not the first clue, about how debilitating the brain fog is. And saying “oh, it’s okay, you can get SSDI” was *insulting* before, now during Trump II it’s straight up sadistic

It’s really disheartening to see people who admit this regime is doing eugenics fail to understand the ways in which chronically ill, disabled, and immunocompromised people are just absolutely fucked by Long Covid

GenAI is an exploitation machine. I'm always in awe of claims that it can be anything more because reality proves over and over again that its users can't imagine anything better than exploitation.

Today we got to do something INCREDIBLY exciting that was one of the core reasons we started the Many Sided Network:

We got to pay our affiliates!

No one is receiving a lifechanging amount of money—far from it—but we're proud to help small independent podcasters make a bit of money from their art

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

The influential pundit Democratic officeholders actually listen to the released an essay openly declaring that both factions of the party believe things went “overboard” with identity politics. That’s why they can’t make any hay out of the gutter racism of Republicans.

There's a certain level of brain rot among the trans folks still on Twitter. No matter how much you say you're immune to it, the nonstop transphobia permeating every level of that site will have you turn reactionary as a coping mechanism. Many such cases.

I understand this perspective, but after decades of studying human behavioral ecology & history of colonization, I've found this perspective essentializes acts of murder and genocide as inevitable rather than acts that are a result of a concatenation of circumstances AND individual choices. 🧵

I’m very very tired of “living in fear” being lobbed at maskwearers by people who frequently say they can’t wear one because no one else around them is.

Living in fear is ignoring science and endangering lives and your own health because you’re terrified of not fitting in.

Lots of us have great-grandparents names who were absolutely changed when they came here, and when people say otherwise, they're assuming your great-grandparents name was in the Roman alphabet.

Now, more than ever, it's important to understand why so many the myths we tell ourselves about immigration are actually very harmful.

First of all, your great-great-grandparents names *were not changed* at Ellis Island. No one there had the authority to do that.
