45?
Why the fuck are so many Republicans ageing like 70s character actors?

Not the point, but that's an old-looking 45-year-old.

It was him making a joke about Munroe Bergdorf and Paris Lees' names.

He was one of the writers who was involved in the creation of Hayley in Coronation Street. Which he seems to now have some guilt about, judging about the way he moans about people thinking all trans people are like Hayley.

All of which is to say: how far Roberts has fallen. Again, some of the signs of "future transphobe" are there in his work, if you know what to look for. But was it inevitable? Hmm.

Indeed. Louis emerick is in Hollyoaks and apparently there’s some implication he’s been dishonest about his past. The current theory is he’s actually his brookside character under a new name and he’ll bump into somebody from the close like sinbad

I'm guessing someone disagreed with Roberts at some point, after he said some boilerplate shite about trans people, and that he didn't like that and so started being a massive, aggressive arsehole on the subject. Yer standard "popular writer [at least within Who fandom] to arsehole TERF" pipeline.

My first Doctor Who novel was Gareth Roberts's The Plotters, a campy First Doctor historical adventure. Haven't read it since I was 9, but I remember being fascinated by Vicki's dressing as "Victor" and King James VI/I giving chase. Part of my early queer education, during Section 28. Happy times.

He was a superb Doctor Who writer so you’d have hated him anyway.

Why does their cartoonist hate their columnists, and who can blame them

He looks like he's wearing a plastic mask over his own deformed face, like Robert Lang in the New Avengers - Last of the Cybernauts.

always been fascinated by the Spectator's byline caricatures because it's like the artist has chosen to represent the writers' inner lives, showing us who they truly are, these weird deformed uncanny creatures with absolutely deranged opinions. bizarrely revealing
Spectator article by Gareth Roberts entitled "The truth about the Green Party's booming membership"

Great though John Hurt was the War Doctor should have been played by Roger Moore.

Completely changing the TARDIS interior every few years is rubbish. Just stick to a style and add rooms every so often.

Tell me your most unhinged Doctor Who opinion. I mean, if you’re a fan, they’re likely all unhinged anyway.

Reminded that it's written by Angela Morley.

“Mom, can I get that Drew Struzan poster of Alice Cooper?”

“We already have a Drew Struzan poster of Alice Cooper at home!”

At home:
A movie poster of the Mae West film sextette, with various tuxedoed celebrities dancing across the bottom.

this is how transphobia has taken such a hold.

it’s not a difference of opinion. you are engaged in science denialism.

like i don’t wanna argue with you about it especially but this is precisely how transphobes have managed to get what they want.

The genius of it is at first you think, 'wow, a metal knight moving', and then slowly you dawns, it's an ornament on a turntable.
deliaisnthappy.bsky.social
Exactly, you worded it better.
But yeah, it's mostly lunacy (like my uncle, though he's more sane)

Because he's a religious loon AND he's ashamed of him being a gay.

This one convinced me to watch a Merchant-Ivory film.
