Trans issues have been especially divisive for Democrats in the wake of the 2024 election, when Republicans used the subject to cast Kamala Harris and other opponents as out-of-touch. Newsom, another possible 2028 contender who visited South Carolina last week, drew backlash from activists and some liberal colleagues this year when he said “it’s deeply unfair” for trans athletes to participate in women’s sports.

In South Carolina, Beshear was eager to talk about how he had handled LGBTQ issues, however.

“I vetoed it because it was the right thing to do,” he said of the bill in Kentucky. “I said my faith teaches me that all children are children of God, and I didn’t want people picking on those kids.”

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

I stupidly looked up how many block lists I was on a while back. After my bruised ego healed, I decided it wasn’t anything I could control (and I do very much approve of the nuclear block here), and I mad peace with being blocked for weird or wrong reasons.

I would like a smarter, more big-word-using person than me to compare the beliefs of Mayor Mamdani (ha!) with those of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, regarding power and its use.

I believe this would explain why the establishment on both sides have gone to such great lengths to attack Mamdani.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
