80% of Americans say we should prioritize regulating AI, yet Trump could soon enact an executive order blocking all state AI regulations.

Why?

Look no further than the AI industry's massive lobbying war chest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imtkNL4v2ks

Oh, the pain, the pain…..

And if ever an illustration was needed as to why university chief executives should be elected, it’s in the ABC story...

I would love to know which specific development proposals of these capital-city universities had experienced such frustration that a watering down of national environmental protection laws was necessary.

Any answers, VCs?

In case anyone still doubted just how out of touch university VCs had become with the interests of staff and students...

Yes, he has a similar, but differently spelled (and pronounced) name. And he’s worse.

Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

When the local Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and Jewish Federation oppose actions taken in the name of combating anti-semitism, you’ve got to ask yourself “is this Administration really attacking universities because the *universities* are anti-semitic?

"Conservative groups, funded by fossil fuel magnates, spend $1B/yr interfering with public understanding of what is happening to our world. Few investments rival the return they've gotten from evangelicals."

An oldie but goodie makes the link between fossil fuels, climate denial, and U.S. religion.

I was once a senior public servant. FOI laws don’t discourage frank, fearless advice. They discourage BAD advice.

Bureaucrats mostly hate them (a lot) because they take up so much time. But it’s nothing to do with not wanting to be seen giving frank, fearless advice.

AFAIK it’s only on the legacy site, to which there are no obvious links, and which will presumably be decommissioned in the fullness of time.
