The number of people whose work, talent, etc. have amazed me during a long life that have turned out to be crazy, evil, supportive of evil, etc... is not a small number any longer. Entire bodies of work that I have supported now make me unbearably sad.

The lengths some folks will go to to defend something when, really, if they still want to have it or enjoy it, they could just say nothing, realizing the creator is a horrible person, and there would be no drama. I'm left believing the drama is all they want.

I'm sure if you do a newsletter, you know the frustration, but when 1200 people receive it, and 400 plus have already opened it, and there is no link, including the one to a free excerpt from a book, has been clicked more than one time, it makes you wonder. I get some feedback in email but...

Pretty sad, after the battles that took place all year, to see the @milwaukeebrewers.bsky.social flying a "L" sign after the game. Pretty much ended all of my "it was a tough series" thoughts and replaced them with fucke those no class assholes.

Our boy Webster has had an off-and-on limp that seems suddenly to be a little worse. Have to take him to the vet tomorrow (hoping they are open on the holiday). He's such a lovey guy I hate that he's hurting, and doesn't let it affect his attitude.

One of the most cringe things on social media is "heartfelt" posts, outrage posts about people, or events, that the poster clearly knew absolutely nothing about, and did not care about, until there was a bandwagon to jump on.

Every person will have a threshold for who does or doesn't get their grief energy.

And the reasons for not grieving will range from "this person did something against my core principles" to queerphobia, racism, ableism, antisemitism, etc on down.

Consider her situation. She has not had any real opportunity to see or know what he's doing, she's been in hiding and fully concentrated on her own life and country. She's hearing her news from some weird sheltered source, I'm sure.

Yeah, that makes me think less of her and not more of Trump though... he's been right off the coast committing war crimes. He's just a different criminal than those she opposes in her government.

That exactly. I knew him but only peripherally, and very very much loved the books, the narration - the fact he was close to Tori Amos... all the things. The whole family listened to The Graveyard Book and loved it. The mask of good guy was way too well-wrought, and the betrayal of it still stings

I had to ask Trish because the resemblance is sort of stunning. The cat is not, as the alt.txt says, our old girl Nanabootz, who we lost this year - that is Miss Didi in her first get-rid-of-the-matted hair cut.

MSNBC has reported that Trump said the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize called him and told him she accepted it in his honor because he deserved it. How mentally incapable of reality does one need to be to tip this scale? Here is a cat who also wonders.

Nanabootz, my old muse - who left us earlier this year. This is how she got her name. She had a lion cut, but the groomer left her feet and ankles fluffy so she has white "uggs" - boots. She has a black spot on her back, and calico marks on her head and face and tail (not pictured) She had round green eyes, and in this picture is standing on top of a Chewy box and staring at something like it is the saddest, most ridiculous thing she has ever seen. (It's Trump... she is staring at Trump).

My occasional reminder (because it drives me crazy) LESS and FEWER are not interchangeable. The same is true of AMOUNT and NUMBER. It's not even hard. Fewer is a smaller number. Less is like when you slice off a pice. A number of people is ... a number? Amount is when you squash them into a lump.
