Ecstatic at realising that having moved to an appropriate time zone to trade US stocks, I will now be able to finish this just in time to message all my friends in Europe with spoilers before they wake up tomorrow.

Depressing that it won’t get built until well into the next decade, but at least finally some progress on a symbol of British demise at the hands of rampant NIMBYism.

Octopi is not a word. The plural of octopus is either octopodes (from greek, not latin) or octopuses.

It appeals more to a way of thinking than to a set of ideas — but is it just wrong?

It’s definitely pretty bleak to have Elon out there promoting his own insane version of reality.

But I suppose it’s also somewhat derivative, like the core problem here is people viewing LLMs as “truth oracles” which they are not, because that’s not a thing and it will never be a thing.

Pertinent as to why engineers & physicists often make much better quant traders than pure mathematicians. Intuitively understanding how a system works is seldom achieved via linear algebra.
I was scarily good at any applied math, like physics or astronomy, in high school, and a hair away from failing regular mathematics class. Just absolutely could not do any math if it didn’t have a practical purpose attached to it, even if you gave me the exact same problem.

I had my disagreements with the BBC under Tim Davie but he was a decent man doing a difficult job.

To see Trump's White House claiming credit for his downfall and attacking the BBC should worry us all.

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.
