"Remember this, Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly.

Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear."
Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Saddening thread about the horror of live-action Suess.

Though it gave me a chance to plug the exception, the utterly bizarre and rather wonderful 5000 Fingers of Dr T, made in the 1950s. Just bonkers.

You know what’s ripe for a comeback is the Wolves of Willoughby Chase series by Joan Aiken. Smart & non-condescending YA, fantastical without being fantasy, dark and Dickensian as hell, extremely lefty and anticapitalist, a full dozen sequels, amazing Edward Gorey covers.

yep. also really can't overstate how much nuzzi is very much the product of an environment that rewards amoral ambition and frowns on people who sincerely believe anything

And of course, if Lizza *isn't* lying, then Nuzzi has broken every concievable ethical rule in journalism: fucking subjects, freelancing PR work, betraying sources, running catch and kill ops, all while pretending to be an objective writer. It is an absolutely jaw dropping level of corruption

I know most of the focus is on RFK Jr.'s weird horny texts, but the news that he used to spam Bill Nye with anti-vax weirdness and Bill was like, "Dude, you're you're confusing correlation for causation" is the only RFK text-message news I will ever need.

They both have a deeply funny US release history with Roger Corman (Battle From Beyond the Sun and Queen of Blood), but in their actual vision they are nothing short of mesmerizing. I watched them both several months ago and they won’t leave me be.

The Sky Calls (1959) and A Dream Come True (1963), both directed by Mikhail Karyukov (the former with Aleksandr Kozyr, the latter with Otar Koberidze) are unforgettable dream hazes of Soviet science fiction. Absolutely unreal stuff, ethereal sorcery on screen. Two favorite watches from this year.

Most potential pet owners consider things like breeding, size, coat, intelligence, trainability, and temperament. Often overlooked is the crucially important element of aerodynamics, which can greatly affect your gas mileage, raising the overall cost of ownership significantly.
