Amid the fog of war, clarity is often hard to find. But, if this story is true, there is nothing unclear or ambiguous about it.

This was either a war crime (if we believe that the killings are covered by the laws of war) or it was simply cold-blooded murder.

Correct.

Americans are going to have to do the heavy work on this.

Starts with an overwhelming victory in 2026.
Dear Fellow Americans:

Please stop thinking about the ICC.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I can't imagine campaigning on this, but if grave breaches become operational policy and other war crimes are routinely pardoned when/if prosecuted, joining the ICC seems much more reasonable than my previous belief that we'd hold our own accountable.

Financial disclosures released in Jan. 2021 said she'd entered an "employment agreement" with Fox, but they waited until March to announce it.

ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WHOLE STATED REASON YOU’RE BLOWING UP BOATS IN OPEN WATERS IS TO STOP DRUG TRAFFICKING
I don't think the president should pardon a man convicted in US court of conspiracy to traffic hundreds of tons of cocaine into the US. I think large-scale drug trafficking is bad, not good, and convicted traffickers do not deserve special treatment.

Sorry to get so partisan, but that's how I feel.

Northwestern’s leaders will likely try to justify their choice to appease fascist extortion with some BS about needing to help researchers get federal funds that were illegally withheld, so it’s important to note that virtually all of the researchers said not to.
So apparently the administrators at Northwestern have caved to the extortionist demands of the Feds. Faculty voted 595-4 AGAINST this measure.

Murder is an offense under Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. With respect to civilians, they have to contend with the federal criminal laws punishing murder on the high seas (18 U.S.C. § 1111) and conspiracy to commit murder outside the United States (18 U.S.C. § 956).

Or the laws of armed conflict. Or the Geneva conventions. You cannot kill people who have been rendered hors de combat in a military action.
Decent answer, but this is why CNN needs experts on the law of the sea on, instead of the usual political commentators. They could easily explain why this violates maritime rules.
