Day one in Australia and I have seen three bin chickens, two horrifying spiders, and one shirtless man in the mall. Feels like a really well rounded introduction to the country.

I had the privilege of presenting at two conferences this past week and it reminded me how important community is—particularly for marginalised scholars. Academia can be really isolating without institutional support and getting the chance to spend time with other queer ECRs felt so rejuvenating.

I'm heading to Brisbane/Sunshine Coast for a conference late Nov/early Dec. Anyone have any recs for places to eat/visit while I'm in the area? I'm limited to public transport but very good at walking (and already made plans to pat wombats, the #1 priority of any Australia visit).
