There's now a class war happening in the MacRumors forum thread about Vision Pro trade-ins.

Comment 1: "Don’t feel bad for those who bought one. They obviously have more money than brains so they’ll be fine. Idiots will probably not even care and have already ordered the new M5 model."

Comment reply: "I hold a doctorate, and at age 58, I have additional funds for hobbies and am anything but an 'idiot'. Stating that folks who purchased the AVP 'have more money than brains" and calling them "idiot'" says more about you than it does anyone else. Your post reeks of someone who is bitter and lashing out because their minimum wage job at The Gap doesn't provide the financial resources needed to purchase one."

Apple continues to burn everyone who ever invested in the Vision Pro. Developers spent time and money building software for an audience that (so far) has not materialized, and Apple expects early adopters to pay the full $3,500 price *again* if they want the second-gen model.

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Last month he wrote about how London was falling apart because it's "no longer full of native Brits." Standard great replacement stuff.

As soon as I was old enough to travel on my own, London was where I wanted to go. Compared to Copenhagen at the time, there was something so majestic about Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, and even the Tube around the turn of the millenium. Not just because their capital is twice as old as ours, but because it endured twice as much, through the Blitz and the rest of it, yet never lost its nerve. I thought I might move there one day.

That was then. Now, I wouldn't dream of it. London is no longer the city I was infatuated with in the late '90s and early 2000s. Chiefly because it's no longer full of native Brits. In 2000, more than sixty percent of the city were native Brits. By 2024, that had dropped to about a third. A statistic as evident as day when you walk the streets of London now.

Copenhagen, by comparison, was about eighty-five percent native Danes in 2000, and is still three-quarters today. Enough of a foreign presence to feel cosmopolitan, but still distinctly Danish in all of its ways. Equally statistically evident on streets and bike lanes.
