Good thread from Dave about the new IEA "Current Policies Scenario" making a lot of the headlines.

Here is a very quick mock-up I made of what this scenario assumes for solar PV additions through to 2035, with historical context.

I'll let you decide whether this seems likely.

When rich people say we cannot have public transport, free schooling or affordable homes. It is not because they don’t want to pay for it - they will still be rich - it is because they genuinely don’t want us to have the things that they have.

IEA said in 2010 that 410 GW of solar would globally operate in 2035.

In 2025, there is already four times that amount of solar globally.

Small solar (<1 MW) was 42% of global solar deployment in 2024, up from 22% in 2015.

Trump/MAGA war on solar will fail!

More bollocks. The only thing stopping Ireland from solving its housing crisis in a few years is the ideological inability of Martin et al to do so. Nothing to do with the EU, or anyone else.

I now wonder if it will come out in the SIPO filing how much the Jim Gavin campaign paid Ivan Yates for media training. If it's anything over a fiver, FF overpaid. #speirgorm

Bad enough the Gardaí gave free run to the far right for years.

Bad enough arson against immigrant centres became standard practice for racists.

Bad enough we've already had race riots.

The Taoiseach & Táinaiste poured petrol on all the above during the week, & we shouldn't be shy in saying it.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Peak spoilt votes of 20.2% in Dublin Mid West and 20.5% in Dublin North West while national average was 12.9%.

The far right is increasingly centered in Dublin, namely Finglas or Tallaght.
