Disabled people had to brave the conditions today to beg for €400 to help get them through the winter.

The govt has refused yet again to deliver a cost of disability payment, a payment of under €2k annually which is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

A despicable attack on dignity.
Watch: Protestors say disabled people 'feel used' by politicians
One protestor said: 'I can tell you there are families where mammy and daddy are not eating two or three evenings a week because they have to feed their children.'

Ireland’s water is going green, yet the EU just approved YET another nitrates derogation...

Rural communities have spoken: they want clean rivers, not more pollution.

Science and public health are clear. It’s time to enforce the rules and safeguard Ireland’s waters.

Went sale agreed on a little house last week. Three years of attempts. I'm overjoyed, but terrified it'll all go arseways (again), so very few winks of sleep to be had until contracts signed. But to even reach this point ... 😭

I repeat, IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD.

Truly Patrick O'Donovan is unfit for purpose. This Gist is an absolute must-read (as always) but your head will probably explode.
New Gist: Waving the Ban Hammer
Patrick O'Donovan has proposed a National ID system, a Meta-endorsed regulation model and a mass surveillance machine, all in one.

It's government by Dunning-Kruger.

Presumably the intention is to push on with the equally illegal plan to require government ID cards to use the internet, until 'interest groups' such as ourselves restrain the illegality. Anyway, keep supporting your local digital rights group!

To help us continue working for your rights, please support DRI with a donation; we suggest €5 per month, but even a €20 euro once-off donation will help a lot! Scroll down to make a single or monthly...

Mr O’Donovan said the Public Services Card “floundered because some interest groups outside of the House, interested more in privacy than other issues, got their way”. Funny way to characterise something which the independent regulator found illegal, imposing a €550,000 fine on the state.

Only 7,000 submissions so far on the public consultation on the review of the Right to Request Remote Working legislation.
Something tells me a lot of them are from corporates, so it's really worth taking 5 minutes to share your opinion here:

Well done to everyone in Mayo IPSC who worked so hard to get this passed - unanimously - by Mayo County Council yesterday. Not that you'd know it by looking at any of the local papers' websites

Most Irish people want clean water, not a nitrates derogation
Has the Government ever asked the people of Ireland if they agree with pulling on the green jersey to convince Europe to give us another derogation?

Even now, the @irishtimes.com headline writers just can't bring themselves to give the thousands of volunteers who drove a grassroots campaign an ounce of credit.

Doing end year numbers and total we'll give this year between the 3% to good causes and 1% to staff on top of salary/bonus will be just shy of €76,000. We're a company of 6 people and whilst this is a drop in the ocean, if a big corporate adopted a similar financial model it'd make a big difference.

Greenhouse gas emissions per capita. The broken grey line is the path required for 2030 targets. Ireland is miles wide of it. The nearest neighbours are crushing it.
