I'll take your word for it. The fumes from 白酒 made me dizzy nearly two decades ago, so I don't think I even tried a sip.

Spread this around. Missouri and Ohio Democrats need at least 100,000 valid signatures to take on Republican gerrymandering maps. This is the fight 🔥

MO & OH Dems need us to help Rally support!

A commissioned poll shows nearly 1/2 of MO voters oppose the maps

The Dem committee needs over 100,000 valid signatures across multiple congressional districts before the state’s 90-day window expires on Dec. 11 to let voters decide on the maps.
Missouri Democrats have an opportunity to block a new congressional map. They say they’re largely on their own.
Despite relatively little investment from Washington, Missouri and Ohio Democrats are looking to block new Republican-drawn maps through uncertain avenues.

You'd have to let me know on that one--my alcohol tolerance is in the negatives to the point where I only use it in cooking.

For any Catholic, the sight of a Eucharistic Procession being turned away at the gates of the destination is the embodiment of Jesus being denied entrance. You don't have to be Catholic to get the symbolism in that!

I need to write about this, but I've been telling people that one reason I still feel somewhat optimistic about the future is that, as a high school teacher, I get a good ground-floor view of just how cooked these monsters are. In terms of preventing cultural changes, they've already lost. 1/

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Hey friends, it's not queerbaiting if Chris, aka Peacemaker, a bisexual, has feelings for a woman. It's not schroedinger's queerness. He's still queer even if he's in a het relationship. Of all the complaints I've seen about S2, this one makes me the angriest.

Wife did a gravel order from Lowe’s for me to pick up. I drive to the pick up dock. Guy with a radio comes out. I show him the order receipt. He radios inside. They tell him to tell me to tell my wife to download the app so that she can check in on it to let them know I’m here to pick up the order.

some of these fuckos would plainly rather stand shoulder to shoulder with a dapper, erudite fascist than someone who agrees with them 97% but seems cringe

a term which can mean anything from “having fun” to “has not read Marx” to “is a mom”

I am so weary of that class of extremely online leftists who think being a Serious Person™️ who only posts and does nothing else is superior to being a Fun Person™️ who physically shows up

I deleted a post of me in a frog suit with my 7-yr old daughter because a big account reposted, admonishing us for not being serious enough protestors (or something). I shouldn’t have included my daughter in the image, which was why I deleted it. But I was stunned by the condescension.

Change is only gonna happen if we have protests across all of society and I hope folks can stop this weird gatekeeping behaviour.

Under fascism, folks should keep their focus on fascists. Protest can take many forms and absurdism is generally pretty good at breaking propaganda’s illusions.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

If you think you have a better way of protesting the crushing wave of authoritarianism, then get your butt outdoors and do it. You can't lazyweb your way to freedom.

The frogs are great.

your tactic of protesting in an inflatable frog suit which gets normal people on your side is far inferior to my tactic of posting about laser blinding helicopter pilots which is both wildly illegal and, were it to succeed, would put basically *everyone* against me

there is a kind of person who does not think any non-violent protest is legitimate and more often than not, they are the kind of person who will not show up to any protest, violent *or* non-violent

dad: your mom likes to overcook these a lot

me: ...how can you even EAT THIS
codenameminali.bsky.social
my dad loves a certain brassica plant (the English name I don't know, since I've only ever heard it in Mandarin) stir-fried so that it's still crunchy, tough, and bitter. found this out to my detriment last year.
trans.bsky.social
i love science & i love that brassica is clearly some variety of eldritch entity that manifests as a bitter plant, native to the liminal plateaus on the thresholds of reality.

as humans, we are for some reason compelled to trick each other into devouring it.
