Tbh, I think he knows he's on thin ice, given that he broke collective responsibility twice, posted an almost too eager "phew" at being retained after the reshuffle and has repeatedly stepped outside his brief. But being a McSweeney creature, he can get away with allsorts.

I'm a trans woman, and I'm mad at Your Party, and Corbyn, but that is not true. The Supreme Court decision had nothing to do with him, he hasn't once said he supports it, and there are several statements of solidarity with trans people. The issue is with him cosying up to the Independents.

The Starmer government is REALLY running scared of this petition, now at 2.75 million, to the extent that it has responded 3 months early, in a transparent attempt to spike it.

So please, under no circumstances should you sign it and share it widely. Starmer & his boss McSweeney would not like it.

The other thing is they keep doing silly polls and silly focus groups where they take people at face value. "It's immigrants," says an unemployed guy with five kids living in his parents' basement, and Labour agree rather than looking at the circumstances behind it.

Starmerism is an oppositional project. They defined themselves by opposition to the left because of Morgan McSweeney, and now they know they'll look stupid being in opposition to everything they claimed they were vaguely for. I think that's where the reluctance starts.
