Earlier this year I read @badasscrossstitch.bsky.social's craftivism book and wanted to find ways to use my art for causes I care about. Well I designed some stickers based on things that inspire me and all profits will be donated!

Currently working on a potential takedown piece of this bogus graph going around on twitter and boosted by Musk claiming that trans identities are "dropping."

There are some very easy critiques of it, but one stands out that hasn't been reported on.

Any R wizards/data science/quant followers here?

We honor the legacy of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a fierce protector of our collective freedom. Our hearts are with her loved ones and all who carry her vision forward.

"We will honor Miss Major forever." - @imarajones.bsky.social
An illustration of Miss Major surrounded by candles with blue background and a famous quote of hers written in gold. The quote reads“I don’t need their permission to exist; I exist in spite of them. I want you to train and teach and love on and create families within my community and gender non-conforming people, so that we can understand that we have a culture, we have a history, we have a reason to be here. We have a purpose. We’re entitled to be loved, and seek happiness, and share that with the people that we care about.” -Miss Major Griffin-Gracy

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

The Bari Weiss-led CBS News has had this up for 3 days and misspelled his name in the hed.

CBS News would never put a thinly sourced 'story' by a rookie blogger like this on it's air. Until now. The Free Press isn't a journalism outlet, it's bloggers aren't reporters. This piece is more NYPost than Tiffany Network but I guess that's the goal.

Every year I bring up the accessibility of the library's Halloween decorations and every year they completely cover the stair railings making them unusable.

Yes:

Poets & Writers was getting $300k from the NEA by 1980. Well before the decline era, no literary org will ever receive anything near this.

& literature has always been an outlier in the NEA. Funding levels went up in the growth era but are dwarfed by funding levels in disciplines like music

Everyone deserves a friend like @literaturegeek.bsky.social who will send them a big ol' box of zines! What a thrilling package to receive after a long day of work and then teaching a night class.

Younger me did not foresee a world in which I am ideologically far more aligned with the current Pope than with most major US institutions, but here we are.

He puts his finger on much of what's at the heart of the moral rot we see all over.

Adjusted for inflation, NEA funding was highest--$1.8 billion--over the four years of the first Reagan administration & has remained stagnate--about $750 million per presidential term--for the last 25 years.

1. In a devastating new Pew Research Survey, only 3 in 10 transgender adults report being accepted by their parents.

And only 1 in 10 say they are accepted by their extended family.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.

The survey comes as transgender people experience a legal assault from the far-right in the United States.

In this fragile world, Sukkot reminds us that safety comes best from solidarity, from making peace with neighbors, from being good hosts & guests, from sharing food, from remembering that we are small & precarious, from worshipping what is holy. Not from building walls and making war.
