I am saddened to hear that Claus Offe has died.

I have admired his work since I was an undergraduate student and believe few others have influenced my thinking as much as he did.

He was kind, generous and encouraging in person. He will be greatly missed.

How plutocratic are democracies?

🇨🇭 In Switzerland, the higher electoral weight of the rich stems above all from turnout bias: people above the median income vote far more often than those below.

The challenge is not just to raise turnout overall, but to make turnout more equal across income groups
