If you only fight censorship right up to the line where it becomes your definition of porn, refusing to have solidarity with pornographers, I can't find it in me to care about your problems. You've shown you don't care about mine and will bounce the moment you get what benefits you.

a load-bearing component of “the magic of Christmas” is the invisible domestic labor of moms

you are now realizing how much she was doing for you and instead of just thanking her you’ve decided it’s about the decline of civilization
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

So the student complained about a teacher who was too hard and the University of Oklahoma sides with the student?

Look, if you think customer service is the point of teaching, then just sell diplomas and spare the rest of us the song and dance about your values.

You don't mean it.
A transgender instructor at the University of Oklahoma has been placed on administrative leave after giving a student a zero on an psychology essay that asserted gender roles were biblically ordained and called gender nonconfirmity “demonic." https://bit.ly/4rvZuuu

Briggsy and I are starting up a Stardew Valley co-op game! I've never really played past year 2 and I haven't done most of the updated content past the base game, so I'm looking forward to this!
This week's schedule. December I'll be finishing up games as given that illness set me back considerably.

This Saturday, we're gonna hopefully, FINALLY finish Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective in a 12hr/sub/dono/followerthon so I can get stable while training.

Hope to see you all there! <3

to say gAI is a tool for the disabled is revealing so much bad faith I find it immediately so disqualifying that the energy to even laugh at it evaporates within a second. art is the only way the disabled can even have a chance of living under capitalism and gAI is killing even that for us.

it's getting harder for me to take the premise of any pro-gAI argument as worth my time to even respond to but whenever I hear "it's a tool for the disabled" all I really think is "having a lack of imagination and motivation is not a disability, you're plagiarizing instead of going to therapy"

Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

people using genAI have a deeply rooted hatred of artists because the narrative has been shifting to "artists don't contribute meaningfully to society" for decades, as capitalism continues to backslide into the shit pit, but this (incorrect) attitude cannot mask the cultural significance of creation

recognizing a lot of social expectations are actually labor issues can be pretty grounding/freeing

Models? it's their job to be professionally pretty.

Actors/performers? it's their job to be professionally entertaining.

Artists/creatives? It's their job to be professionally imaginative.

in the world of web 2.0 trying & failing to evolve into web 3.0, creators have no funding. gAI made freelancing impossible, private equity has strangled media industries into hemmoraghing labor, and people only pay for art if it's a service since the idea of sponsoring art is "well what do I get?"
