I assure you there is a non-trivial amount of the social media population who finds me exasperating and enervating when I show up unbidden in their feeds. I strongly encourage them to mute or block me. No one who finds me annoying here should have to deal with me! Expunge me! Be free of me!

What kinda sad, sad person would be better off without you in their feed? My day is slightly darkened by the thought.

Just some questions to consider when writing the Accessibility notes for your event or your venue!
white text on a blue background, with an icon of a person in a wheelchair beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

the body text reads, "Some things to consider adding to your Accessibility section for your event and/or your venue, from a disabled man.

“The venue is semi-wheelchair accessible” is a good place to start, but when planning a night out, more information is better than less!

Accessibility is the most basic thing I look for in a venue, especially for events." white text on a blue background, with an icon of a cane beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

Firstly, not all wheelchairs look the same. Motorised and power chairs might be wider, longer, or heavier than lighter chars without a motor - these chairs may need more space to go through doorways.

Secondly, wheelchair-users are only a fraction of disabled people who may have additional access requirements - some people use canes, crutches, frames, rollators. Some may be photosensitive or use hearing aids, etc.

Oh you want to read Gellert's New Job, about the meanest autistic transgender man and the biggest bastard of a vampire mov boss, so badly. You want to read it for just 99p for the eBook or a fiver for the paperback.

#BookSky #TransMan
You grew up in Lashton,” said Pike. “You know how to handle yourself, don’tcha? Word is people don’t like you.”

“Oh no,” said Gellert sarcastically. “That hurts my feelings.”

“’Cause you’re on the spectrum.”

“Colour spectrum?”

“Asperger’s.”

“Asperger’s,” Gellert repeated, and scoffed. “Even when they diagnosed me, I wasn’t palatable enough to be labelled with Asperger’s. I’m autistic.” And blind as shit,” said Pike. “And you talk funny. And you’re a cunt.”

“And you want to hire me,” said Gellert.

Pike grinned, showing his sharp fangs. “Yeah,” he said.

“Now who’s the cunt between us?”

“What’s the different between Asperger’s and autistic?”

“Politics, acceptability, and about fifteen years.” Do you think people hate you more ’cause you’re a faggot, or ’cause of the autism?”

“Always asking the important questions, aren’t you?”

“Is it true you’re a trap?” asked Pike, and Gellert blinked.

“I beg your pardon?”

“You know, a cuntboy,” said Pike. “You had your womb whipped out and your tits chopped off, but you still have an axe wound.” Oh,” said Gellert, filing “trap” away to remember for later, and doing his best to do anything but remember “axe wound”. “The politically correct term is transgender, but yes.”

“You’re not getting angry,” said Pike.

“Are you trying to make me angry?”

“Not really,” said Pike. “Just wanted to see if you would be. You too good for crime?”

This was a fun read. I do love a story featuring an unapologetically cranky bastard.

When a trans woman dies of natural causes, at an age greater than 75, having lived more than half her life as herself, that is cause for celebration, not mourning.

Thank you, Miss Major.

The bbc focussing on what the ceasefire means for the hostages way more than what it means for Gazans, again seeing that disproportionately we’ve become accustomed to for years, this isn’t new, and it’s certainly not ok

I love how many cats and dogs are like. If you really loved me you'd fully grab me by my face and muzzle and sort of shake it around, or physically wobble my whole body with your hands. And then you do that and they're like :) yeah!!!!!!!! :)

Anything I'm missing? What do you look for in a venue when you need accessibility info?
white text on a blue background, with an icon of a set of lockers beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

Do your bathrooms all have bins appropriate for soiled sanitary towels and incontinence products?
Do you have vending machines with or freely available sanitary towels, condoms, and similar?
Do you have changing tables available? Does your venue have an adult changing table, or is there one nearby?
Does the venue have lockers, a cloak room, or a coat check? How much is it? white text on a blue background, with an icon for a hearing loop beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

How well-lit is the venue? Are your bulbs especially bright or dim?
Does the venue use strobe or flashing lighting?
Does the venue run fog, foam, or bubble machines?
Does the venue have a hearing induction loop for hearing aids? Are any of your staff trained in local sign languages?
Are your staff otherwise multilingual, with service offered in multiple languages? white text on a blue background, with an icon of some signs beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

Are your prices and menus printed in large font, or otherwise clearly visible?
How in-depth is your allergen information? Do you have ingredients lists, not just allergen lists?
Are these available on your website?
Do you have a floor plan on your website?
Do you have well-placed signage towards bathrooms or other key areas of the venue? Are lifts clearly signposted?
Do you have signs and/or menus in braille? white text on a blue background, with an icon of a computer beside the heading "accessibility at your events".

Thanks for reading!

Try to have a webpage for your venue or event if you can - a central spot is always much easier than a social media page or a poster.

Honesty is the best policy, too.

More information lets us plan our night, even if you don’t have x or y access option to hand - and a venue writing about access in detail lets us know you care about access in the first place!

you'll be delighted to know that having failed to help basically at all in killing this cockroach, myrtle is now walking around the living room and kitchen trying to find more bugs to hunt and play with, bc they are her favourite toys, and i was cruel to kill the cockroach and put it in the bin
johannestevans.bsky.social
i have captured and viciously eliminated the cockroach that has been living in the cabinet our fridge is enclosed in. both cats wanted so bad to assist me but were ACTIVE impediments to the process

unfortunately i very much do love that very obviously autistic coded character who is in that show wholly to be bullied and made fun of by all the characters who are "normal". the show is bad and the way the show treats that autistic character is bad. but unfortunately i do love them

the protagonist isn't always the hero. they are just the person the book is about. sometimes authors write books about people who are bad and it does not mean that the author is bad
