You're living through one of the biggest technological transformations in world history and it has nothing to do with AI

Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

Ladies and gentlemen... the weekend. (also: you are important and are not alone 🧡)

There are seven days in the week. Why does everybody schedule everything on Wednesdays? New thing pops up, oh it's when I'm already triple-booked on a Wednesday.

The head of Vancouver’s transit agency can sum its ridership recovery in one word: Frequency.

“Running the bus every 30 minutes isn’t going to cut it if you want to grow ridership.“

Many Vancouver 🚌 run every 5min or less, and the SkyTrain runs every 3-4min, via @davidzipper.bsky.social

Vancouver's TransLink is a rare success story in North American transit, with ridership almost matching pre-Covid levels. It might be the only big 🇺🇸/🇨🇦 agency that has *expanded* total bus service since 2019.

I spoke w/CEO Kevin Quinn about lessons from TransLink's rapid recovery. 🧵

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

It’s really nice living in a city whose leadership puts a priority on making non-car transportation safer, easier, and more accessible for everybody. #NewWest

And here’s a curb extension going in along the same route, making it safer for pedestrians!

It is great to see more safe cycling infrastructure going in around #NewWest. Here’s a little safety added to an intersection along a greenway and a safe route to an elementary school a block away!

Wild to watch the unprofessional conduct of Fontaine, who made a flippant comment about a delegate presenting to Council, when he wasn't able to debate the resident once they stated they wouldn't take questions.Yet, ppl still question why residents aren't comfortable delegating at CityHall #newwest

Who are we going to export fossil fuels to when they're the most expensive fuel on the market? You don't build a pipeline for today's demand, you build it for 10 years out. We're being left in the dust.

It’s neat too how Sim’s quoting a blog that’s well known in New West for having a residential school denier and a militant TERF as authors. The “editor” likes to throw around “anti-semitic” at people all the time too. I wonder why Sim’s reading such a blog and lending it credence…
