“The happiest [DC-area] commuters are the ones who bike, walk, or take a scooter to work.”

Second are Metrorail riders.

Forecasting models are in "strong agreement that at least 6 inches is likely and that parts of the [DC] region could near or even surpass a foot. But with the storm still four to five days into the future, uncertainties remain."

Ugh.

Odds rising for one of D.C.’s biggest winter storms in years this weekend
The snow and perhaps ice, accompanied by bitter and long-lasting cold, could cause major disruptions to schools, airports and businesses Sunday into next week.

My colleague Sara Gregory’s exclusive story in the AJC about how a committee secretly nixed a long-anticipated transit project showcases the power of local reporting and bringing clarity to an issue of public concern through public records, interviews and expertise developed over time.
Unbeknownst to the public, a small group of officials from the city of Atlanta, the Atlanta Beltline and MARTA voted to stop all work on the Eastside Beltline light rail project more than six months ago: www.ajc.com/news/2026/01...

Homage to L’Enfant’s urban plan for DC. A modern play on the city’s neoclassical monuments. A nod to the OG RFK Stadium

“It doesn’t take much of a leap to arrive at a classical-ish stadium design for that location — with or without any interference from Trump,” writes @kristoncapps.bsky.social.
