Seriously. What a great songwriter. Skilled enough that even an established legend like David Bowie was citing him as an influence on Blackstar, which was itself an apotheosis of an album. Wish we had more albums of D’Angelo’s.

Extant was robbed, man. He forced the reboot of the Justice Society of America, which was cool and necessary, but he didn’t even get to be the star in his own event. Zero Hour was a weird one—oddly low-stakes and small-scale given the Big Bang happens. I like it, but it’s weird.

I liked Sammy Paré. He looked more like a goldfish than a squid, I had no idea how old he was supposed to be, and he deeply needed therapy, but I liked seeing him.

Juggernaut crams an entire cheeseburger into his mouth while talking with the youth. Squid-Boy (face like a squid, can breathe underwater) and Carter (intrusive, telepathic moppet) really need therapy if Juggernaut is their role model.

JUGGERNAUT: “Hey… Sammy, Carter… you guys like baseball? Maybe we could get outta here and play some catch. Maybe go to a game.”

SQUID-BOY: “R-really? Wow, Cain, that’d be great! Before my nose fell off, my dad used to take me sometimes!”

CARTER: “I don’t have a dad… he tried to kill my mom and now we’re hiding from him.”
