Hi (thank you @dbrauer.bsky.social)! I'm Bree and I live in Minneapolis, which I hope was fairly obvious. I have a cool dog (@banjompls.bsky.social), and I'm a recruiter with many opinions. I like trivia, reading, fundraising, and meddling in politics. I'm learning Swedish so I can flee the U.S.
Muah ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaa
It's clear from the article that ICE is *miserable* here. They're freezing their asses off and being harassed everywhere they go. Property managers aren't allowing them access to rental properties and people know their rights and aren't letting them in.

KEEP IT UP.

Democrats are viewing impeachment as something closer to a criminal trial, when it's really something closer to a confidence vote in a parliamentary system. And in a parliamentary system opposition parties take those as often as they can get them.
Impeachment is a tool for political accountability, not a “sacred” constitutional ritual. If it were truly about evidence, the Senate would’ve convicted Trump unanimously after his coup attempt—the same way every jury has unanimously found him liable or guilty when the facts actually matter.

Not worse than this, but in addition to this... the city just throws everything in the garbage. No sorting for recycling, putting food in organics, exchanging empty propane tanks, etc. They won't allow anyone who doesn't work for the city to sort it though.
I want to reground in the fact we’re talking about how the City responds to us & our neighbors. People we know, people we love. bsky.app/profile/prop...
ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

Imagine that, treating our neighbors like human beings, just a little bit!

Of course Jacob, who I first met at Project Homeless Connect, opposes it.
The Minneapolis City Council approved new homeless encampment policies that will provide toilets, collect trash and allow more time before forcing out inhabitants, among other changes.

Proponents call the ordinance more humane, but Mayor Jacob Frey opposes and might veto it.

Reminder Minnesota: Congresswoman Angie Craig voted for the Lake Riley Act that took away due process from immigrants. She is partly responsible for the kidnapping of immigrants and families being ripped apart.
Trump at the White House congressional ball: "You passed the Laken Riley to get criminal aliens off the street so the don't kill our people, hurt our people, mug our people, slice up our people, which is what they did. They're not doing it so much."

Typos on government documents infuriate me, but not as much as electeds VOTING FOR police brutality.
The final vote of the term for City Council was a resolution against using less lethal weapons for crowd control and supporting discipline in the police contract or discipline matrix if police officers violate the separation ordinance. Palmisano, Jenkins, & Vetaw voted no (Rainville was absent)

Wow, fuck you, Neeson.
This awful era keeps ruining people for me that I once liked. But if you side with fascism, corruption, racism and anti-science ignorance, there’s just no coming back from that.
SCOOP: Academy Award-nominee Liam Neeson narrated a recent anti-vaccine documentary that glorifies RFK Jr.’s rise to power.

In the film, Neeson—a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador—calls the COVID-19 vaccines “dangerous experiments.”

Bitched my way into going back to work tomorrow. 💪💪💪
I'm really pissed about this, particularly because my boss must have known earlier but didn't tell me.

In my time away I've fallen into my natural circadian rhythm which has me asleep 6 a.m.-1 p.m., so it took SIGNIFICANT effort to be up and ready to work at 8:30 a.m. For fucking nothing. 🤬🤬🤬
OH COOL I CAN'T RETURN UNTIL MONDAY BECAUSE OF THIS

Or Sabrina Carpenter!
hey reminder since ICE has been dragging around a camera crew with them:

if you spot them filming, play loud copyrighted music. Disney or Taylor Swift. Makes it so they can't monetize the footage without getting a takedown notice from the record label.

Supposed to be back part time at work today, but my boss didn't do whatever HR magic is needed for my FMLA, and so after I signed on and saw 613 new emails, she made me sign off.

This is torture my ancestors could never have conceived.

I'm glad but also furious that people are only realising this now.
This is the link to the story. They're just so "normal" like somebody's parents or grandparents trying to do something decent & live their faith. If ICE will terrorize them gratuitously w/ no reason, everyone will be prey sooner or later. Surreal.
