If I was devising a set of announcements to elevate (but not satisfy) the hard right, alienate the middle ground and completely discourage your base, I couldn’t come up with a much better strategy than McSweeney and Number 10

As the BBC’s currently into apologising would they like to apologise for Mrs Brown’s boys? #bbcbh

Kuenssberg tells Zia Yusuf that official figures show that knife crime is down 10%. He says that it doesn’t change his position but also suggests that the numbers have been fabricated. Rather than challenge him on this, she instead makes an approving noise. Absolutely appalling ‘journalism’.

There's a moment when using a screwdriver to prise something open or cutting the wrong way with a sharp blade, you know your going to impale yourself but you carry on regardless until it happens, the English language needs a word for this

Looking forward to our trip to Crewe on Saturday, I’m reminded of the miserable afternoon in February 2017 that we spent there, watching the Mariners lose 5-0. It was the day that saw Marcus Bignot come back out after the game to address the Town fans (fair play to him)…

RIP Diane Keaton, always one of my favourite actors. Appeared to be such a genuine person too. She was also a great narrator, I’m currently listening to her narrate Joan Didion’s Slouching Towards Bethlehem audiobook. Well worth a listen.

EPA reorganization sparks fears of ‘political interference’
“Today is day one of the new EPA,” Administrator Lee Zeldin said. Union officials say the revamp is meant to intimidate scientists and undermine science.

Just had the misfortune to watch the BBC 6 o’clock news headlines. I am now genuinely concerned that Chris Mason is on Reform’s payroll and working undercover at the BBC.

Anyone interviewed Laure Ferrari’s conveyancing solicitors (like they did with Rayner’s) to find out how she passed the Anti Money Laundering checks and proved the source of funds were hers? If Farage paid for it, he’d already declared himself the beneficial owner in the press - so an implied trust!

Reform thrive on misconceptions, so if you’re not going to try to correct them, what is the point? You are playing right into Farage’s sweaty, nicotine-stained hands. We need leadership, but you’re acting like the opposition, and an ineffective one at that. The ‘concerns’ are NOT ‘legitimate’…

I am so sick and tired of seeing MPs and the media shit themselves over refugees arriving in small boats over the channel.

If your initial reaction to seeing these boats is anything other than “those poor bastards, I hope they make it across” then you have failed as a human being.

Instead of repeating the ‘legitimate concerns’ mantra, Labour need to change tack IMMEDIATELY and start calling Farage out and highlighting the FACT that 96%of immigration is legal and essential for the future wellbeing of this country.
New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

One of the first LPs I bought with my own money in the late 70s. Not sure if I was more attracted to the music or the cover art, which I have since learned to be The Triumph of Death by Bruegel. Essentially a compilation of tracks from Sabbath’s first three LPs, I still have it in my possession…

I did worry that Jason Stockwood was going to pay over the odds this summer for what can best be described as luxury items and I’m afraid to say that my fears have been realised.

The good news is that I only say this because I bumped into him food shopping in M&S at Handforth Dean this afternoon….

Another genius has left us. My introduction to his genius was my folks’ Beach Boys 20 Golden Greats LP, which I played again and again as a kid (I have inherited it and still treasure it, of course) and was great to see his influence in modern culture, too. RIP Brian Wilson

Interesting situation developing at Manchester Piccadilly Platform 7. 18:38 to Alderley Edge delayed until 18:48 but the 18:46 to Stoke on Trent (currently behind it on the tracks at Platform 7) is *not* delayed according to Northern Trains.
