"Something exists that didn't exist 2,000 years ago, therefore it's un-Christian" is one hell of a flex for someone permanently addicted to the gutter of Twitter.

I just got caught in a short hailstorm so severe the hail hurt. That's a new weather, for me.

One of my favourite albums of 2025. Neil's finest work yet.
Lunar Module hits LM007 with this brilliant experimental ambient house album.

love to live in a world where all my personal data is relentlessly harvested so that megacorps can feed it into their all-knowing algorithms and yet somehow the end result is that algorithm going “we think you’d like Clarkson’s Farm”

I should point out that its not because of Oxford scenes being filmed in Bristol. It’s more about creating a cohesive spaces that relate to each other.

The interior of their luxury Oxford house seems way too big for the outside. The decor of the hall seems at odds with the modern kitchen/diner.
This programme doesn’t have that. Other than people mentioning Oxford at the start and Scotland later on, it really struggles to define a place.

And it’s not really a problem if that doesn’t bother you.

You know, you all say your posting random things, but I think you’re all carefully selecting something odd.

We are watching Down Cemetery Road, and Emma Thompson is great fun. For a Mick Herron adaptation made by the same producers as Slow Horses and with Apple’s endless pay cheque it has a very confused sense of geography.

I was listening to @goingmedieval.bsky.social's new podcast on the trial of Joan Of Arc. I've not dug into it before, but I was astonished at the depth of legal and philosophical research done by the best (male) minds in the 15thC to ensure she was prosecuted in an exemplary way.

Excited to see lots of op eds in the broadsheets saying it's not fair, actually, bc the author has a £2m house but is actually very poor & it turns out they're a minor aristocrat due to inherit 1/2 of Cheshire & the clothes in their 'poor me' photoshoot cost more than my car
There is apparently a mansion tax for properties over £2 million so expect to see a lot of shit about how that's the normal price of a house these days and average people are being affected.

I rewatched North By Northwest again tonight, a film I adore. Its so much a prototype for action cinema that came since - there’s a lot of Bond and a heck of a lot of Mission Impossible in there. And for all that it sets up, it’s also a remake of Hitchcock’s own 39 Steps.

Just because Trump turned up in front of a microphone and some cameras doesn’t mean that anyone in broadcast media has to show it.

Just humour him and put on something that attempts to elevate humanity. Or at least not make it considerably worse.
