Be thankful I didn't take a photo of the bathroom.

I stopped at a hotel in Middleton Stoney on my way to my gig in Portsmouth. It was a proper shitehole.

The hotel, that is.

🧵Thread. I collect photos that people took of their TV screens (in the days before video) because they wanted to capture a historical moment, or at least something that meant something to them.

I love finding completely nonsensical American sports names trending on here at weekends.

Anyway, congrats to Chud Spleknik of the Portland Caterpillars for doing well at one of the incomprehensible American sports.

I’d attempted (and failed) to get synchronised projections for my tour, to really capitalise on this track. Alas it took too much processing power and far too much work (with the way I was doing it) for the tour.

The industrial track I’ve been opening my live sets with this autumn is called This Machine in an entirely deliberate homage to Woody Guthrie.

A Woody Guthrie thing…

Great gig @warringtonruncorn.com with top visuals in a great venue. Top support too from @kaylapainter.bsky.social and the BFI film(nice to see Stockport in it). Looking forward to Belgium in May next year and maybe some circa 1970s Belgian footage.

Outstanding immersive experience with @warringtonruncorn.com last night. Was sucked in completely to a world of the past dominated by optimism - so much so that I only took one photo. But I did buy the new CD. Full of the DNA of Kraftwerk but so much more. These are the songs I dream about creating

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I’ve just watched a tribute that Meryl Streep gave to Diane Keaton in which she said that Keaton had “a stream of consciousness like a hummingbird” & my goodness that’s it, that was her entirely.

And Smalls tells you exactly what you need to know about Derek’s status within the group and his clown status. Full marks for Squatney too.

I’ve yet to see the new one, I must admit. I loved Sue Perkins insight that Ian Faith is a man of absolutely zero faith. Also, it’s such a perfect 70s British band manager name. They’re all so perfectly named.
warringtonruncorn.com
Is Ian Faith not the patriarch? David and Nigel are the naughty boys who just want to play. And Nigel can sometimes flit into the fool role too.

Readers of my first book Tilting at Windmills may be interested to learn that the inner sleeve of @warringtonruncorn.com’s new LP depicts the ‘betong’ category of miniature golf course, as utilised in international minigolf tournaments to this day. Hats off to that dead town planner!
