We are the first generation that has sufficient resources to put a roof over every head, a meal on every table, to provide education and basic health care to all, and to care for the planet.

Yet we don't.

You have to ask what is wrong with us?

Republicans have turned the USA into the kind of police state that Republicans always warned you America would become if you didn't vote for Republicans.

600 kids have been ripped from their families and placed in ICE camps. That’s more than in the entirety of the previous 4 years.

The average time in the camps is 6 months.

This is in addition to the young mothers having their babies ripped from their arms as they’re deported.

Under a zero tolerance policy, the first Trump administration separated immigrant children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. New data suggests separations are happening all over the count...

The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

My health insurance premiums will more than double in January. I pay a little less than $500/month for my current silver plan.

I just reapplied and my new premium will be $1062/month.

And don’t forget: I still have a co-pay for every visit and pay for prescriptions.

A little pet peeve. It’s not exactly that tropical rainforests have “gone from being allies in the fight against climate breakdown to being part of the problem.” Forests lose carbon when people cut them (or via fire) and gain carbon when trees grow. It’s that the losing is outweighing the gaining.
Africa’s forests transformed from carbon sink to carbon source, study finds
Alarming shift since 2010 means planet’s three main rainforest regions now contribute to climate breakdown

Note to the tech bros:

In every imagination of a utopian future you might notice that people don't starve or lack income because they no longer have to work.

By all means replace all the jobs, but don't assume that means you get all the money.

Because health is political

Because the President of the most powerful country on earth has said disabled people should be “left to die”

Because we’re living through a mass disabling event

Because eugenics is back

While America today is focused on the DC National Guard shooting, we should all be asking how did the shooter get his guns and why is this administration working to make that even easier?
While the world focused on the Epstein files, Congress took up a dangerous bill that sponsors say is to help law enforcement get greater access to “less-than-lethal” weapons.

In reality, it deregulates dangerous weapons to help a billion-dollar weapons industry make more money.
