After a series of discouraging events capped off by a global pandemic, I’ve all but lost my taste for filmmaking. I can still crank out videos for work, but this once-cherished idea of creating art for art’s sake is basically dead. It used to be so important to me. But now I just don’t care. Weird.

It was very naive how many STEM people thought Republicans would stop at the humanities
Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

Having talked to literally hundreds of writers on my podcast WRITERS ON FILM here is what I’ve learned:

1. No writers makes money selling books. A minimum wage job worked for the same number of hours would earn far more

An absolutely absurd amount of comics in this deal, including some of the best direct market comics of the century so far.

It’s 1985, and Regis and Joy are here with some last-minute ideas for Christmas tech gifts. There’s a clock radio that can turn on your coffee pot, $300 TV that fits in your hands, and a new thing called a “cellular phone.”

The original scene here had Don in-frame in such a way that, were he not edited out, you would've also seen the effects guy. So HBO or whoever remastered this must've gone back to pre-effects shots I assume? And not had any human eyes look at it post-remastering? bsky.app/profile/paul...
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right
