It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Spiders Georg factoid actually just human failure to grasp big numbers. Even eating 365,250,000 spiders a year has minimal impact on number of spiders eaten by average person given size of human population.

memorandum/a, yes.

Octopi is not a word. The plural of octopus is either octopodes (from greek, not latin) or octopuses.

I’m glad that link resurfaced. It further proves my point. No one, especially Matt, would say he has a mental disability.

It’s more rare than my physical one and it is a deficiency in mental processing but no one claps when he writes his own name.

In April 2009, the Washington Post asked 10 writers to make the case for something that deserves to be tossed out as part of "spring cleaning."

I chose Larry Summers.

Francis Heaney’s Holy Tango of Literature.

He answers the (understudied) question of what would happen if poets and playwrights wrote works whose titles were anagrams of their names.

Reminder: there are no trade deals. Nothing binding was actually signed. 90% of news coverage you saw about “trade deals” was wildly misleading. It’s pretty weird. And it will get weirder as “deals” turn out to be not deals, actually.
JPMORGAN: “.. China’s soybean purchases are stalling, potentially putting the trade agreement at-risk, as the 13% tariff on soybeans makes Brazilian / Latin American alternatives more attractive. Further, the elevated purchases made by China in the recent months lowers demand ..”

I visited Franconia Sculpture Park over summer and it has been on my aurora photo bucket list ever since. That's where I went last night.

10 years ago, I rode the chairlift up to Glencoe, #Scotland & watched my future husband and the others #paragliding, flying on an absolutely glorious day in April.
I lay flat to take photographs between big rocks &somebody flew right over my head 😆
It would have made a good GoPro film! #photography
