Mark Kelly a NO, notable as he was allegedly one of the cavers

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
I'll take KC and Buffalo alone over the rest of the AFC combined.

The WSJ on how unbelievably stupid Noem and Lewandowski are.

I don’t care that I’m late to this; it’s to good to pass up.

Instead of "winner-take-all" swing states (which ensure disproportionate power to whoever can most efficiently disinform the most ignorant voters), we could have city-states and country-states, each of whose interests are fairly homogeneous and consistent, who can negotiate over long periods of time
And the red state would lose the bulk of its tax revenue, the old state capitol of Missouri would be in it, and it would be among the poorest states in the country. Plus, their voters would demand tax rates lowered still further.

The future is failing red states. Make them face their own policies.
There is enough history of states splitting into two (Maine/Massachusetts, Virginia/West Virginia) to justify the practice. If Missouri split into three states - one based around Kansas City, one based around St Louis, and one for the rest of the state - you'd have two blue states and one red.
Previous generations had mortgage debt. Current generations have college debt. The figure that matters isn't earnings, but net earnings after debt service and rent/mortgage payments. And of course, education debt is 10x more depressing than mortgage debt.
They're betting the store that this Cold Civil War will never turn hot, or even that vengeance won't take the form of cities and states turning off the largesse to the hinterlands and slowly choking them out through municipal statehood movements.
You're more like the teenage kid covered in cigarette burns because they won't let their dad abuse their mom.
Yes, but they successfully transitioned from a small, governing majority to a complete media and judicial takeover to create permanent, single-party rule. Hungary is the template for JD Vance's America - where voters can be ignored and Republicans never really have to face them.
"I'll love no matter how many children you starve to death, Elon!" (400K and counting, by the way, according to best estimates.)
He's a dead man walking who has brazened his way out of the consequences for every mistake he's ever made and every crime he's ever committed. He's going to die like he lived - killing everything he touches and calling it a master plan.
Anyone else feel weirdly unnerved by the sheer amount of politically suicidal things Trump keeps doing? Is there method to the madness or is he really just that far around the bend and his staff is following him there?

This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Apparently Schumer's offer also included a legal guarantee of appropriations being spent as specified.
I'm not sure it's any deeper than Trump's gut instinct. "We're not letting them take our hostage away - we have to shoot the hostages to show them we mean business!"

i was really skeptical that this was the case at the beginning, but i'm not sure what other explanation makes sense at this point
johnson is also fucking terrified of what's in these files and is willing to keep the house on permanent vacation to prevent their disclosure, and that's becoming obvious to even the most checked-out median voter
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.
Whatever is in the Epstein Files is so dangerous to Trump that they had to shut down the House for 8 weeks to keep it from being released.

for them it’s like the equivalent of ticking time bomb case. The most extraordinary and extreme efforts, and bending the way till it breaks, to head off the irreparable harm which in this case is allowing very poor Americans to purchase food.
#BREAKING: The Trump administration is asking #SCOTUS for an immediate “administrative” stay of a Rhode Island district judge’s order that is otherwise requiring it to resume the distribution of SNAP benefits from other funding sources no later than the end of today.

I don't think people fully realize how brutal a vise Republicans are in now. If they cave tomorrow Democrats get all the credit for giving people healthcare. If they somehow bypass the filibuster they get a year plus of headlines about ripping people's healthcare away.
"Republicans are keeping the government closed, starving kids, and making you miss your Thanksgiving flights because they want your healthcare costs to go through the roof" is actually a pretty effective message for Democrats
The Dems are also winding the clock on the Republicans and leaving them twisting in a permanent bad news cycle. Every day is a 60/40 win for the Dems. The Republicans are trapped in a disaster they can't escape without surrendering or destroying the filibuster (which is what saved them 20 years now)
It's hard to see how a one-dimensional team like the Broncos beats the Chiefs and Chargers. But maybe other teams will do it for them...
