We’re not even *close* to running out of good ideas. The issue is smart people’s ideas being systematically persecuted, under-resourced, and blocked from opportunity by fascists. Do not believe propaganda in the “Future Perfect” section of Vox that’s underwritten by Effective Altruism extremists.
This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

a cruel irony of so-called artificial intelligence is it's potential, in the aggregate, to make society less intelligent as what's real and what's trash spit out of a hallucinating plagiarism machine become increasingly hard to distinguish
As an author, I’ve already gotten multiple emails from people asking me for fake articles and books that I’ve supposedly written, because chatbots have told them fake references. I *cannot imagine* the frustration and time waste for librarians and especially ILL library professionals right now.

Most daycares and private preschools won’t enroll children with disabilities. Especially for low income families, Head Start is their *only option*.
Head Start is a 60-year-old US Department of Health and Human Services program that, among other things, creates inclusive and accessible classrooms for children with disabilities. But those applying for funding were told by the Trump regime to avoid the words "inclusion" and "disability." 🤡
Head Start centers told to avoid 'disability,' 'women' and more in funding requests
New court documents reveal a list of nearly 200 words or phrases the Trump administration told Head Start programs it does not want to see in their funding requests.

Per my last re-post, twice this year I've been commissioned to write reviews of harms that can arise from the use of LLMs and then, as we surface the harms, told
it's not appropriate to be political.
But LLMs are a deeply extractive technology, they are political by design.

#25DaysofFishmas Day 13 brings us a fish that shines like B-E-A-UTIFUL holiday lights! 🌟

Our road trip takes us to the deserts of southern Arizona + New Mexico to find the Beautiful Shiner (Cyprinella formosa), a small, threatened species that was briefly lost from the US but has been reintroduced

The beautiful shiner is a small fish (<3.5 in/9 cm) that's part of the Leuciscidae family (shiners, daces, minnows) and the Cyprinella genus - also known as sailfin shiners. Like many other Cyprinella species, male beautiful shiners are known for their vibrant breeding colors #25DaysofFishmas

While the beautiful shiner has probably never been super-abundant in the US (their native range in the country is small, as the US only has ~2% of the Rio Yaqui basin), they were also briefly extirpated from the entire US in the late 1960s due to habitat loss + invasive species #25DaysofFishmas

Sherrone Moore’s firing and its shocking aftermath raises tough questions about the culture of Michigan’s athletic department | CNN

Day 13 brings a real splash of colour to #25DaysOfFishmas. This crimson critter is Barbourisia rufa, the velvet whalefish. Barbourisia is found in temperate and tropical waters around the world, at depths of ~300-2000m, and is, of course, the only member of the Barbourisiidae.

Something we somehow managed to talk about in the episode we recorded last night, even though it’s only kinda related to the topic. 😅
