My almost 18 yr old dog is struggling and failing to stay standing and having what I think are seizures. She doesn't want to eat dog food or steak or chicken. I'm going to take her to the emergency vet tomorrow if I can get the money up, but I think I'll be coming home alone.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

The Klan isn't too cancelled to hold several rallies over the last decade and even have it's endorsed candidates elected to US government, but cancelled enough that, if you manage to vote for their candidates, you might not want to brag about it too your co-workers.
Louis C.K. isn’t too cancelled to perform several sold-out shows of his new comedy show at the Beacon, but cancelled enough that, if you manage to snag a ticket, you might not want to brag about it to your co-workers.

In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

A reminder for those who are not aware: "remigration" is the process of deporting all non-white people from a country. It includes citizens and is, by definition, ethnic cleansing.

And to be clear: this is not fake. I just screenshot it myself.

I am currently nursing the kind of psychic wound that causes the bad guy to lose because the protagonist started singing a song all by themselves among the corpses.

And I have to go get groceries.

I really hate asking this, esp before the holiday, but I’m having an emergency. My filling broke and I have a painful abscess that needs immediate care. I don’t have dental insurance and could really use a hand. I’m so sorry to ask. I can barely eat or sleep. #mutualaid

If I won the Powerball I'd get a loan to start a company called 'This is just a car' and then we'd make cars without computers in them. Nope, car can't connect to Bluetooth. Nope, car doesn't have GPS. Nope, car doesn't have AI sniffing your prewarmed farts.

Can be fixed by your buddy tho.

Being among the first interrogated and ultimately fired by DOGE, I certainly felt we were facing the business end of a right-wing conspiracy theory 🧵
DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail

I watch 2 shows a weeks; a weekend anime and a midweek reality competition. Had you asked me after 8, I would be rescuing myself and a handful of hungry Survivors, but the clock hasn't rolled over and MHA is in the finale arc so EVERYONE got screentime last episode. DEAD NIGGAS coming too. I'm SAFE

To be clear (since NPR isn't), the "joke" is premised on the fact that Trump is kidnapping people w/o due process and shipping them to offshore concentration slave camps in defiance of court orders, human rights accordances, the U.S. constitution, all tenets of common decency, and international law.

Social security has informed us that actually they will not be sending any money this month but maybe we MIGHT get this month's month on December 14th.

That was Thanksgiving, and the other bills that haven't turned off yet, and my meds for the rest of the month. Just gone again.

🎁 For this holiday season, consider gifting COLOR TASTE TEXTURE! It’s a great primer for people of all ages with little to no experience cooking. If you have some neurodivergent friends and family, or parents of littles, they might love this! It’s not just a cookbook, it’s a new approach to food. 🎁
I’m an Autistic classically trained chef and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide titled COLOR TASTE TEXTURE, that’s all about finding out what works for specific sensory needs and how to customize food for them. It’s useful for all ages, no cooking experience necessary.
Color Taste Texture by Matthew Broberg-Moffitt: 9780593538593 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books
An accessible family cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, and picky eater, with 46 recipes. This much-needed cookbook combines tips and techniques.....
