I'm proud to announce Reality Drift, a roguelike racing game where your choices matter. Race through a series of strange worlds, choose upgrades for your car and decide which track will be next - your decisions are just as important as how you drive!

This "open borders" line is *infuriating* - these people came here to study or work, because they had a uni place or a job to come to. They paid visa fees, student fees, NHS surcharge - and many of them are doing challenging and important work - staffing our care homes, for example, including Mum's.
Starmer keeps using this line, & it's bonkers.

Most importantly, it's untrue: the party that ended Free Movement, ran the "hostile environment" & made Suella Braverman Home Sec did not run "an experiment in open borders".

It's also politically mad. Voters who believe this will not vote for Starmer

In a screeching u-turn from its Manifesto the Government now backs conversion therapy for trans people. That is what 'supporting' trans youth but denying them the medicine they need to physically transition means.

Let's make it a tiny thread, because Return of the Obra Dinn is also on sale during this event, and it's god damn one of the best games ever. Like, I can't describe just how good this is, but every time you get stuff right it plays a little piece of music that feels so god damn rewarding. Play it!

Just want to put it out there that STEAM DETECTIVE is a great name/ concept for a game about a cranky steampunk robot solving crimes.

This is true. Not only that but some developers can hire you AND avoid all your suggestions. I've been a consultant on a couple of games. One of them came out having utilized absolutely zero of my recommendations.

It was a complete disaster critically and commercially.
If you think *any* consultant can influence games to a detrimental degree, your opinions about game development are too out of touch to be worth regarding.

Most of the time, even actual writers don’t get a final say over a game’s writing. The complex approval process is often above their heads.

“More trials are needed!”
“OK let’s run a trial”
“Ha ha no”
Gender criticals treated the Cass Review as the word of God, and cast anyone disagreeing with it as dangerous/unscientific/not fit for polite society. But now the entire GC movement is united in opposing a puberty blockers trial, despite it being something Cass called for. They are not honest people

Hello fellow chair sitters. I had a great chair, but my lower back still used to feel bad, now it doesn't. I did the following: 1) getting a new mattress (mine was 9 years old) and 2) these two dead simple stretches every day. Just passing it on.

you should watch the dilbert TV series. larry charles was in charge of it. has that distinct 'simpsons expat' / too good for the network to know what to do with it flavour. all on youtube. the forbidden zone theme is the intro for some reason. and most importantly: scott adams was not very involved.

The utterly shameless & widely covered "report" out today, claiming net zero will "cost" £9tn is based on:

* Assuming free fossil-fuel energy, free petrol cars, free gas boilers, free gas power plants etc

AND

* Including climate damages in the "cost" of net zero

I kid you not, it is that stupid
🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero

1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!

In general, the prevailing dev strategy right now is to price "up" one tier, and then discount as much as possible to the "correct" price - which is 100% a (unwanted) response to the way Steam's platform fees and algorithms require developers to "game" the system to not get absolutely vanished day 1
